DESCRIPTION:

Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist will write and coordinate a variety of provider communications materials (letters, email, newsletter articles, presentations, etc.) .

This includes responsibility for developing strategic messaging, writing editing, and attending meetings related to requests as well as coordinating design and production for these assignments and managing the formal review process by legal/compliance and other areas of the organization.

The specialist will handle both simple and complex writing assignments. They will also develop and provide strategic direction for communications plans/materials/projects, and build relationships with business partners. The individual will be expected to work with the production team (graphic designers, printers, etc.) to ensure the best means of branding and distributing materials.

The Communications Specialist will be expected to actively participate on various work groups and committees throughout the organization to ensure that issues/programs affecting providers are communicated effectively via the appropriate communications channels. This individual will provide input that offers value to projects being handled by fellow members of the provider communications team.


Obtaining appropriate approvals for distribution
Collaborating and offering expert communications counsel to stakeholders
Creation, implementation and management of communications plans
Writing/editing/proofreading a variety of communications
Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed
Works with complex issues
Serves as a resource to others

*MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS*

Bachelor's degree in communications-related field - Journalism preferred
5+ communications experience with an emphasis on writing/editing (must be proficient in AP Style)
Proven record of writing performance
Experience as a Team Builder/Problem Solver/Proven Interpersonal Skills
Ability to develop strategic messaging and solutions
Healthcare communications experience
Ability to handle and resolve conflicts
Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
Relationship builder/Consensus builder
Knowledge/Experience with Documentum a plus
Enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of a team imperative
Writing Samples required

Assets:
5+ years of health care experience
Experience working in a fast-paced, virtual environment
Comfort-level working in highly regulated industry
Flexibility
Self-starter/Proactive approach to work
Professional maturity
Client or stakeholder management experience
Experience working across multiple regions/states for a large organization
