Core ERT Technician - (T4)

Primary responsibility is to respond to emergency incidents in a timely manner at all SCLA Applied Materials sites in conjunction with Volunteer ERT members.
Depending on the nature and magnitude of an event, Core Technicians may be required to perform defensive and/or offensive actions in the course of incident mitigation.
It is expected Technicians will strive to achieve and maintain response proficiency in all required emergency-related disciplines(hazmat, emergency medical). Other responsibilities include the following:

  • Comprehensively document emergency incidents to facilitate the Root Cause Analysis process
  • Conduct both formal and informal emergency-related training for Volunteer ERT members
  • Coordinate and conduct Volunteer ERT quarterly drills
  • Perform required inspection and maintenance of ERT equipment and supplies
  • Complete assigned tasks in support of various EHS and Apps Lab Operations professionals
  • Develop and write administrative or response-related procedures as required
  • Effectively coordinate and manage assigned Core ERT Programs or Projects
  • Professionally interface with outside emergency services, AMAT management and ERT volunteers
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by Management
  • Due to 24/7 schedule, may be required to work off-hours and weekends


  • High school diploma
  • 1-3 years' experience as Emergency Response Team (ERT) member Successfully complete Core ERT physical examination as specified by company's SCLA Health Services
Current first aid and CPR certification and working knowledge in the following areas:
  • Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Gas detection and fire alarm systems
  • Hazardous materials response Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ?levels of protection?;
  • ERT equipment and supplies
  • Chemical hazard classes for common gases and liquids.
Preferred Requirements:
  • College degree
  • 3 years ERT experience
  • 1 year semiconductor industry experience and demonstrated competency in the following areas:
  • ICS; ? Hazmat PPE levels of protection;
  • Hazmat incident hazard and risk assessment;
  • Gas detection and fire alarm systems
  • ERT equipment and supplies
  • Common semiconductor-related gases and liquid chemicals
In addition to the above, current certification and/or past work experience in the following is highly desirable:
  • California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) Hazmat Technician or Fire Department Firefighter I
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic
  • Conducting formal inspections (i.e. hazardous materials or safety)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to write technical documents
  • Proficient with Illustrator and/or Auto Cad
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State safety and environmental-related regulations
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures
  • A self-starter, able to multitask, work independently and drive tasks to completion.
  • Good physical condition with no preexisting medical condition that prevents performance of required duties
