Summer Internship Program
Lowe's 2018 Summer Internship Program offers challenging assignments to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the retail business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a FORTUNE ® 50 company. The summer internship program begins with orientation in late May and concludes in early August. All internships are paid and housing is available for those that qualify. This role has potential for conversion into a full-time position for those that successfully complete the internship and upon candidate's graduation.

The internship will consist of a project-based assignment to broaden learning, experience, and organizational knowledge and business acumen. We are looking for people driven by potential. Corporate Communications Internship
Lowe's Corporate Communications team is responsible for company-wide communications programs and activities for key internal business partners, form the development of strategy, messaging and planning through execution and measurement of program deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in the planning and execution of the company's internal mid-year meeting designed to engage and inspire our employees on Lowe's business strategy and demonstrate that Lowe's is a great place to work
* Assist in developing and delivering communications to employees to support the event including creating compelling visual content working with our digital content team and executing communications across Lowe's internal channels with our employee communications team
* Assist in planning the event including working cross-functionally with merchandising & marketing, working closely with our corporate events team
* Assist in developing stories or social media content to inspire employees that may also be used on our external newsroom site, working closely with our Public Relations department and digital content team
* Work closely with our community relations team to execute a program to give back to the community during our mid-year meeting program

Required Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Communications or Marketing from an accredited four-year college or university
* Senior academic standing
* Proficient in MS Office Programs
* Solid knowledge of corporate communications disciplines
* Strong oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent project management skills and event planning
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Solid knowledge of social media and developing content for social media

Preferred Qualifications
* 3.0 or above GPA
* Relevant internship experience and/or other related work experience, such as a leadership role in student/campus organizations, volunteer, etc.
* Previous retail experience
