The Finance Organization at Monsanto has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Cost Analyst.  This position will provide cost accounting and financial support to various functions in the chemical and seed manufacturing areas.   Ensuring uninterrupted business support, compliance with US GAAP and corporate control policies, and accurate financials are key to this position.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for monthly closing processes and accounting support for non-production areas (i.e. maintenance, capital, project expense, factory and indirect expenses, environmental, engineering, as well as utilities).
  • Provides extensive reporting and metrics to evaluate efficiency, utilization and cost effectiveness and drive business decisions.
  • Ensure financial accuracy and perform balance sheet reconciliations and analysis to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with global trade and compliance, as responsible for all intercompany intransits, movements and adjustments monthly (ie. Export report, interco freight reclass/accruals, standards, etc.)
  • Lead monthly forecast processes and annual budgeting processes for business.
  • Responsible for working closely with various functions and levels of leadership to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures for expense vs. capital (i.e. submission of AR's, financial valuations, asset retirements, CRB presentations)
  • Educate and standardize spend qualifications (i.e. capital vs. project expense vs. maintenance cost)
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance and resolving all purchase to pay issues, including but not limited to: raw material pricing, vendor set-up, purchase order set up, invoice payments and GR/IR reconciliation
  • Work to streamline, simplify and standardize processes and procedures
  • Actively participate and lead special projects and continuous improvement opportunities as needed
Required skills/experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of finance or accounting experience
  • Previous ERP experience, SAP preferred
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to build solid business relationships and strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across various levels of the organization
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing business needs
  • Must be a self-starter with proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must have analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to meet milestones/deadlines
  • Ability to evaluate large amounts of data and present in clear and concise reporting to drive decision making

Desired skills/experience:
  • Cost Accounting, purchase to pay, entity reporting/consolidation, maintenance or project/capital knowledge or experience
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
