Description and Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for providing general legal support to the U.S. Pharmaceuticals group of Bristol-Myers Squibb, a biopharmaceutical company. The lawyer will be involved in all aspects of the U.S. Sales and Marketing organization and operate as part of a Law Department focused on providing excellent legal service to clients. The lawyer will be responsible for advising clients on a broad array of issues relating to advertising, marketing, promotion and public relations, including the use of new digital communications platforms. The lawyer is also expected to anticipate and proactively identify legal issues that could affect the Company as a whole and advise clients on how to resolve these issues. The lawyer will work on cross functional business teams, and also work with other lawyers in the Law Department to provide comprehensive advice to clients.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate should have between two and five years of legal experience, preferably with a law firm that advises companies on their advertising, marketing, promotional and public relations strategies and activities. The ideal candidate will have experience advising clients developing advertising and promotion using innovative technical platforms (including social media). Experience working with clients in biotech, healthcare or other regulated industries is helpful (but not required). Experience with the Food & Drug Regulations, the Anti-kickback Law and/or Privacy Laws is helpful but not required. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must have excellent judgment and the knowledge and ability to involve others that may possess the needed expertise to address issues as required.
