U.S. Facilities and Operations:

Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.

Responsibilities
Position Summary:

Working under indirect supervision, this position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Individual will have primary responsibility for operation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of facility utility and complex process equipment and for teaching less experienced technicians. Supervise work of outside contractors when needed. This position requires very general supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor. In addition to the responsibilities of a Craftsperson - Manufacturing Maintenance, the Craftsperson Lead will have the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Coordinate work assignments within the department including training, mentoring, technical support and/or process/trouble shooting support to meet deadlines.
  • Lead and promote a team environment by participating as a team player while also demonstrating effective communication skills with the team and management.
  • Demonstrate leadership in job performance through honesty, integrity and professionalism across all aspects of the business.
  • Follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Exhibits proficiency and personal accountability for project performance and meeting expectations.
  • Willingly accepts coaching and mentoring from more experienced resources and provides the same when working with entry-level resources.
  • Practice safe working practices. Must have knowledge of confined spaces, lockout / tag out and protective clothing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and safety requirements.
  • Function in a regulated environment and handle confidential information.
  • Responsible for planning and execution of preventative maintenance and demand maintenance.
  • Demonstrate initiative to solve problems, addressing issues before they become unmanageable.
  • Accurately perform detail orientated work.
  • Assist with proper completion of documentation and training records. Develop and revise work instructions and operating procedures as required.
  • Works with internal resources to coordinate coverage schedules, resolve problems, and represent maintenance in committees or on project teams when needed.
  • Communicate work progress to business units when appropriate.
  • Support implementation of department policies, procedures and/or regulatory documentation.
  • Recommend or provide feedback on proposed courses of action to improve departmental effectiveness.
  • Seek opportunities for improvements, identify potential problems, suggest and implement solutions.
  • Have project oversight responsibilities when necessary, and provide standard to complex technical or administrative support to enhance maintenance department performance.
  • Establish good communication links between shifts. Ability to provide comprehensive shift report both written and verbally to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Evaluate critical situations, consult with supervisory staff and propose corrective action.
  • Effectively manage conflicts until Supervisor is available.
  • Provide input for annual reviews, participate in hiring and training.
  • Use a broad range of software used in the Pharmaceutical industry (e.g. MS Office applications, MS Project, MS Visio, AutoCAD, SAP, etc.). Must also be able to learn other advanced software programs that are used in industrial environments.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Practice safe working practices. Must have knowledge of confined spaces, lockout / tag out and protective clothing requirements.
  • Advanced analytical and diagnostic skills and ability to learn to design and modify equipment to improve performance
  • Ability to analyze equipment logs, understand trends, and take appropriate actions for adverse indications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics, flowcharts, and other technical drawings
  • Knowledge of procedures, tools, techniques, materials and/or equipment used in the manufacturing area and products being manufactured.
  • Ability to work continuous operations scheduling (including nights and weekends).


Qualifications
Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum of five years previous experience and/or formal training in mechanical and electronic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Provide off shift/weekend on call support to production facility.


Desired:

  • Electro Mechanical Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
