The ERM Alternative Funds Credit Team provides credit analysis and approval of credit exposures to alternative funds across State Street's business units. The credit analyst will be responsible for conducting comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of unregulated funds including assessment of credit risks credit surveillance of NAV and performance as well as conducting client due diligence. In addition the role envisions risk managing a portfolio of accounts from a credit perspective as well as reviewing and sanctioning credit proposals.
Candidates with background in hedge funds/private equity (either buy or sell-side) are encouraged to apply. In addition to familiarity with the sector we are looking for someone with ability to make reasonable well-informed credit decisions regarding existing and new counterparties and borrowers within delegated credit approval authority balancing high credit quality objectives with appropriate portfolio growth.
Responsibilities

  • \t\tReview and analyze financial statements fund risk reports as well as NAV and performance time series in order to calculate proprietary metrics used in the evaluation of performance liquidity leverage and portfolio risks

  • \t\tPortfolio management of assigned clients from a risk perspective
  • \t
  • \t\tIdentification/ escalation of exceptions to credit policies and guidelines

  • \t\tLiaise with business units to complete counterparty due diligence
  • \t
  • \t\tAssist in conducting portfolio analytics and associated reports for use by senior management committee submissions as well as regulatory tests and annual strategy paper

  • \t\tParticipate in or lead a variety of departmental risk management and project assignments

  • \t\tProvide quantitative training/mentoring to junior staff members
Qualifications
    \t
  • \t\tBachelor's degree in related field masters or a professional designation strongly preferred
  • \t
  • \t\tFamiliarity with global capital markets and understanding of associated risks - macro rates currencies equities and bonds.
  • \t
  • \t\t2-3 years financial services sector experience that may include credit analysis or alternative fund financial/performance analysis
  • \t
  • \t\tPrior analytical experience and/or formal training in alternative funds credit is not required but preferred
  • \t
  • \t\tDemonstrated ability in analytical writing and preparing excel-based reports and power point presentations
  • \t
  • \t\tStrong attention to detail and analytical skills for preparing and/or reviewing credit approval requests
  • \t
  • \t\tAbility to work well both independently and in a team environment and collaborate on time sensitive credit approval requests
  • \t
  • \t\tExcellent interpersonal organizational presentation and communication skills
