The Customer Experience Design Intern will leverage experience and training to contribute to a newly formed Digital Member Experience Team at BJ’s.  The candidate should be passionate about design and creating experiences people love. The ideal candidate should be passionate about all facets of User Experience Design, including user research, interaction design, content design, and service design with a curiosity to learn and explore each area. The position will be in a collaborative environment working on mobile and web development lifecycles leveraging agile methodologies and collaborative partnership principles. The candidate will also collaborate with team members across various disciplines including product, analytics, and engineering. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work on a design team to help create designs for BJs digital experiences 
  • Help create scalable designs for various customer segments, on a variety of form factors, and regions globally 
  • Work within existing style guides and patterns, while continuing to push the envelope for better experiences for our customers 
  • Provide clear rationale for design concepts and how they align to project goals 
  • Creatively help resolve business constraints and challenges through design solutions 
  • Cleary articulate design decisions and confidently speak about the rational for design solutions 
  • Communicate user journeys by documenting user scenarios, personas, and story boards 
  • Use design tools to help present designs to key stakeholders across all levels and disciplines including wireframes and various visual design formats 
  • Facilitate design discussions with clear and high-quality outputs 

 

Requirements:

  • Rising junior or senior or first year in advanced degree program majoring in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Decision Science, minimum GPA: 3.4
  • Retail experience and industry knowledge highly preferred
  • Business oriented
  • Ecommerce industry knowledge
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Experience with interaction design, design research, problem framing, and workflow and information architecture highly preferred
  • Must have strong time management and communication skills, be resourceful, and work cross-functionally
  • Must have strong judgement and decision quality, take accountability and ownership, be agile, have strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to drive action and results
