As the Data Center Implementation Manager you will be expected to manage data center deployments, retrofits, expansions and decommissions globally, while supporting all infrastructure activities at the LinkedIn data center locations. You're at the forefront of best-in-class environmental practices. You work closely with the Data Center Engineering team and help develop approaches to reducing operational costs while improving efficiencies. As a seasoned professional you will be expected to lead and participate on large projects as well as understand and resolve complex issues that put the team's objectives at risk. You will ensure that problems are identified and resolved expeditiously, mentoring junior staff and ensuring that our customers have the capacity for their growth.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: - Developing BOM's for data center & PoP builds - Manage global hardware reservation process - Maintain vendor relationships - Build & Decommission data center infrastructure globally - Monitor and maintain Data Center resources: power & cooling - Manage vendor contracts of structured cabling installation for adherence to standards and specifications - Develop and administer RFPs as it relates to data center projects - Participates in working groups to influence outcomes with peer teams to solve problems and innovate - Manage the intake and workflow of customer hardware and space requests - Evaluate data center environments and develop technical architecture documentation - Travel: Must be ready to travel to other sites, approx 25%.
Basic Qualifications: - BA/BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent data center experience - 3+ years of experience managing and leading teams - 3+ years of Data Center experience in design and/or installation of Data Centers (Local or Global) - 3+ years of experience designing structured cabling solutions - 5+ years of experience leading/driving data center projects
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with communications carriers in the data center environment - Experience in physical data center design - Ability to manage multiple challenging tasks under very strict timelines - Solid knowledge of data center facilities and operation - Ability to manage equipment upgrades and modifications in data center production environments - Effective project leadership abilities to plan, organize, and motivate others to achieve objectives within challenging timelines and situations of uncertainty - Detailed knowledge of electrical critical power and network systems - Demonstrated consistent and steady growth in career.
- Broad experience with data center technology vendors.
- Hands-on experience in deploying large scale-out infrastructure technologies.
- Great communicator and able to drive consensus across diverse/global technology teams. Demonstrated experience of metrics-driven management with accountability.
- 5+ years experience leading an infrastructure deployment team. - 5+ experience working with highly effective engineering teams through major technology transitions.
- Effective leadership abilities, ability to plan, organize, and motivate others to achieve objectives - Must have previous relevant experience of managing technical senior individual contributors
