Position Summary:
The Customer Data Governance Manager is responsible for the data governance of customer master data. Data governance is essential to the future success of the company, by resolving existing data problems and preventing future data problems.

Job Level Summary Information:
  • Scope: Managing customer data properly through the entire customer lifecycle. Will be responsible for ensuring proper management of customer hierarchies and prevention and resolution of duplicate records. Will also be an integral member of the GoTC team, overseeing data cleansing and conversion & migration from legacy systems into the new order to cash system.
  • Impact: All areas of the business that create, modify, delete, and update customer master data elements (sales, order entry, customer service, etc.).
  • Knowledge: A breadth of knowledge of the operations will be required, and how customer master data are affected by the activities taking place in the operations.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive problem solving will be required. Most solutions will involve data analysis, process changes, and technology components.
  • People/Function Management : May have direct or indirect reports for data stewardship at the discretion of the manager. Some data stewardship responsibilities may be best left residing within operations, and the manager will oversee the proper management of data. Some data stewardship responsibilities may also be performed by direct reports.
  • Supervision Received: The Director of Data Governance will supervise and provide guidance as required.
  • Customer Focus: Internal customers are the primary focus, by being able to deliver clean and consistent data to the operations. The end goal is to have "one version of the truth" when utilizing master data for reporting and operations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Coordination with many different operations and IT groups will be required, so excellent interpersonal skills are imperative.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science
  • Minimum Preference: 7 years
  • Experience : 25%


Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with cross functional business teams (sales, install, service, account services, etc.) to establish governance policies for data management
  • Develop and manage process to resolve exceptions to established policies and standards
  • Establish and execute strategy for utilizing hierarchical attributes for converting legacy records into Oracle Trading Community Architecture (TCA)
  • Establish and execute strategy for cleansing inactive records in MASterMind with no service calls and ADMIN billing account
  • Work with data security, compliance, and IT to protect key data elements and restrict read/update access to only those roles which require it
  • Coordinate resolutions to data problems with IT and other workgroups
  • Work collaboratively with other data governance managers for the management of related master data
  • Establish and manage process for preventing duplicate customer records
  • Establish and manage process for reporting on existing duplicate customer records and merge duplicate records
  • Manage data clean ups as required
  • Work with data governance analysts to identify data problems and present issues to the data governance board for resolution
  • Identify root cause issues of data problems and assist business partners to prevent future problems
  • Manage the execution of new data improvement decisions from the data governance board
  • Identify existing data stewardship roles and activities within the company, and ensure adherence to governance policies and standards
  • Establish and manage required data stewardship roles where necessary
  • Review of customer data project deliverables for GoTC and other major project initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
