The Senior Database Administrator will perform complex database analysis. Accountable for observing and undertaking any issues with ETL processes on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, creating ad hoc and scheduled production reports, and working directly with end users to understand data requirements. Designing and implement new databases based on project requirements. Maintain databases, including such activities as database administration, performance monitoring, tuning, backup, and general support. - Conserves uptime and availability of database environments - Maintains appropriate level of data security - Endures documentation of database environments - Arranges code to excerpt, transform and load data into application settings - Proactively analyzes trends and proposition changes to environments - Creates stored procedures, functions, and triggers - Performs performance tuning and query(s) for system optimization - Ensures dependability of DB environments and that all systems are secure, standardized, available, and recoverable - Schedules and maintains backups and restore databases as wanted - Agendas data loads and ETL jobs and monitors successful completion - Participates in presentation design and integration session - Provides database operational support to technical users - Plans projects and oversees the tactical aspects of data warehouse implementations and maintenance - Screens requests for services, determines general customer requirements, develops and evaluates alternative solutions and functional specifications, and develops conversion plans and procedures - Participates in database and application architecture review, capacity planning and automation - Implements appropriate contingency procedures in response to planned and unexpected events - Keeps abreast of technical developments of operational prominence and participate in developing or setting standards as directed - Ensures that applications and related services are documented and kept current - Represents Operations in meetings to cover operational requirements both for new projects and current systems - Designs database objects to instrument business logic and data flow based on technical specifications provided by the analysts - Maintains all production SQL environments - Establishes and monitors backup schedules - Tunes database configuration for optimum performance - Performs or oversees installs and patches to database software to agreed standards - Diagnoses and resolves problems relating to database service availability - Monitors and maintains quality assurance by checking the consistency, continuity and coherence of supported services - Evaluates test results for fulfillment of all data requirements. - Develops conceptual or general designs, including logical design of databases, access methods, and metadata presentations. - Details all aspects of functional designs, including record layouts, pseudo-code, detailed data mapping, and puts into production data-related project components and institutes all required change - Provides ongoing support to the business, including ongoing data analysis, data quality testing, and enhancement of metadata - Reviews SQL code and provides tweaking suggestions - Leverages current toolsets and recommends and implements new toolsets to introduce efficiency and automation - Mentors and helps train less-experienced staff - Performs other related duties as required by position - BS in Computer Science or related field preferred - 8 or more years relevant experience designing and managing SQL databases - Experience with SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 - Strong understanding of SSIS for Extraction, Transforming and Loading data - Superior understanding of T-SQL
