We're looking for Sr. Database Administrator with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, functioning like a startup and working on ambitious new initiatives.
As a Database Administrator, you will own and lead the day to day operations of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You should be a database administrator, able to build broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
• 5 years DBA experience
• Responsible for day-to-day operations
• Install, patch database software
• Create and configure databases
• Configure database network services
• Backup and recovery, storage management, managing user accounts
• Database security
• Monitoring and tuning performance at the SQL and DB layers
• Monitoring and responding to alarms, liaising with Oracle support, capacity planning, participate in on-call rotation.
• The technology stack will initially include Oracle RDBMS 11/12c, Mysql and Postgres.
• Future technologies may include open source NOSQL solutions such as Hadoop, HBASE.
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
