This position is to support the application development within the American Express Global Business Travel supporting corporate travel users.

• Functions as a Senior member of an agile team and is responsible for driving consistent development practices (including tools & common components)
• Partner with business upstream system owners, and business customers to understand business requirements and determine the best design for the solution architecture
• Drive data architecture solutions that are consistent with enterprise standards
• Create and provide direction and oversight for data modelers on the design of relational and dimensional models
• Help customers to understand and leverage existing data sets
• Interface with upstream system architects, developers and program managers to resolve data issues and drive capture of data needed by business customers
• Typically spends 30% of time writing code and testing, and remainder of time managing team and stakeholders through ongoing product/platform release sprints
• Perform necessary activities to drive standard definitions
• Develop, validate and communicate modeling solutions, including relational, dimensional, and flattened models

• 7+ years of database design and data architecture experience
• Deep understanding of data warehouse and data architecture principles and best practices
• Strong data modeling skills, both logical and physical, applying relational, dimensional, and flattened approaches
• Ability to support project level solutions while also thinking at the enterprise level
• Strong Experience with SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Oracle, DB2
• Experience with data standardization, data cleansing and validation
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation competencies
• Adept problem solver with ability to lead and collaborate with others
• Self-motivated and highly dependable
• Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment
• Great attention to detail, with strong analytical and SQL skills
• Bachelors or advanced degree in computer science, engineering or related field
