Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Demand Planner will primarily be responsible for managing the global demand for the Chemical and Semiconductor Business.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Support the legacy i2 demand planning process and prepare to transition to SAP
  • Gathering and applying market intelligence to the demand plan. Market intelligence may come from sales, marketing, key accounts, and other sources including management of any intelligence received via EDI
  • Managing demand planning exceptions related to out of control demand, forecast bias, unusual month to date demand, etc.
  • Leveraging forecast performance metrics tools to measure accuracy, assess the quality and frequency of overrides, assess forecast bias, and identify and address the largest sources of forecast error
  • Managing the demand planning aspects of the product life cycle (new products, end of life, and phase-in / phase-out)
  • Maximizing the effectiveness of the statistical forecast by adjusting/cleansing historical demand and determining appropriate levels of aggregation for calculating the statistical forecast
  • Maintaining data integrity in the demand planning system by performing needed realignments and removing obsolete data
  • Planning intercompany requirements from non-deployed countries ("Rest Of World" or "ROW" demand) during interim-state
  • Providing oversight for the global demand plan to ensure integrity of the global plan. This applies to items sourced in the demand planner's home country/region, but sold in multiple countries/regions and demand planned by multiple demand planners around the world
  • Participates in global, cross-functional teams to satisfy customer requirements & meet business objectives
  • Utilizes 3M Supply Chain tools and processes such as Demand Planner (DP), Forecast Performance Metrics (FPM) and Supply Plan Metrics (SPM) to regularly review demand exceptions; takes necessary steps to prevent and/or correct anticipated problems
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M's values and ethical standards

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Minimum two (2) years combined experience working with Manufacturing Planning, Supply Chain- Demand Planning, Logistics, Customer Service and/or SAP

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Production Operations Management
  • APICS (The Association for Operations Management) certification or demonstrated progress toward completion
  • Experience leading Six Sigma Green Belt and/or other projects
  • Experience with SAP ERP Software
  • Experience or knowledge of 3M planning systems such as RDP, FPM, SPM, PeopleSoft, COMS, GGSM, SCPA, etc.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills; good presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to influence others and work effectively in a team environment
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Strong data mining, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Location: Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 10% Domestic and/or International
