Design Engineer - Regulatory Compliance for industrial automatic transfer switch equipment. The Engineer will be responsible for supporting and leading projects within Technology team in Plano, TX or Mebane, NC.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Design Engineer - Regulatory Compliance, you will:

+ Be the Supplier Point of Contact (SPOC) with regards to the RoHS2 conversion program. Work with the TRS (Technical Regulations & Standards ) experts across the business

+ Perform required assessments and report impact to the Technology Systems team and OCE

+ Ensure appropriate engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, etc.) and expected results in terms of quality and execution time

+ Develop modifications to existing products (if required), design documentation, as well as testing of the design in the laboratory, and in accordance to the RoHS2 directive 2011/65/EU

+ Work as part of a cross functional team including manufacturing, sourcing, systems engineering and OCE in developing and on-going support of state of the art product lines

+ Involve the CIB to review CN before compliance desk review, and coordinate material approval with CIB prior to release

+ After completion of RoHS2 conversion plan in 18-24 months, the role will transition into a design and sustaining engineering role for the ATS product line

Qualifications/Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Electrical Engineering

Desired Characteristics:

+ Working knowledge of TRS (RoHS, REACH) areas

+ Fluent in English

+ Experience as a design engineer

+ CAD experience with Creo and AutoCAD

+ Basic knowledge of change management process (Windchill or other)

+ Demonstrated ability to meet schedules

+ Working knowledge with MS Office

+ Excellent analytical skills and ability to work within a project team environment

+ Familiar with agency requirements for UL, NEMA, & IEC ATS Equipment products

+ Ability to identify, quantify, and resolve technical problems

+ Ability to work under pressure and meet project schedules

+ Ability to design, develop, analyze, and document product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements of the customer or market

+ Strong team player with the demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment

+ Demonstrated ability to take the initiative, good communication, and interpersonal skills

+ Demonstrated ability to speak Spanish and/or Chinese

+ Knowledge of material science as it relates to RoHS and REACH requirements
