- Provides engineering and
design services to R&D, production
- Implements complex design
concepts and ideas into working blueprints and drawings.
- Studies specifications,
engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering
and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material
characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing
procedures, and cost.
- Provides all design
changes for existing products. Ensures proper documentation of changes.
- Applies algebraic and
geometric formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop tool
- Selects standard items
such as bushings and tool bits to incorporate into tool design.
- Understands the process in
which tool design is being applied.
- Interfaces with outside
suppliers as needed.
- Draws preliminary sketches
and prepares layout and detail drawings with documentation to support changes.
- Responsible for supporting
design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and
environmentally sound start-up of new processes.
- Responsible for ensuring
personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company
regulations, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for
communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
- Responsible for ensuring
subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and
Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available
and in good condition
- Performs other duties
assigned as needed
- A minimum of an Associates
of Science Degree with 4-6 years of related experience is required.
- Significant experience in
the design field is preferred.
- Ability to use a PC and
associated software is required.
- Ability to work from
blueprints and/or specifications to design tools is required.
- Ability to work with
various engineers to design and fabricate tools is required.
- Ability to use various
Auto-CAD software systems is preferred.
- Ability to use Solidworks
- Knowledge of purchasing
systems is preferred.
- An understanding of
project management is preferred.
- Knowledge of machining and
tool shop operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of materials and
metals are preferred.
- This position is located
in Irwindale California and may require up to 10 % travel domestic and /or
