The mission for this Director is to build a team to develop, revise, & communicate risk policies, strategies and actions required for effective risk management for the Consumer seller portfolio.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Seller Risk, this role will provide subject matter expertise for building and revising polices and decision strategies targeting fraud and financial risk. Additionally, this Director will work to identify efficiencyies with enhanced policies and processes, enabling the business to continue to grow at a rapid rate. As a senior member of the risk management team, s/he will also share in the responsibility for all seller performance metrics.
The Director, Consumer Seller Risk will be responsible for teaming with other business units who have system or operational ownership of the key areas responsible for implementing policies and decision strategies. S/He will lead change and act as an integrator by utilizing strong skills of communication and influence. S/He will directly and in conjunction with the team manage multiple complex projects and initiatives from concept through approval to live execution. This Director will also work with the Core Product Technology Team to ensure Risk products and features are developed which enable the business but mitigate total system risk.
The ideal candidate will be a team player that possesses strong collaboration and team building skills, thinks and acts as an integrator and operates as an Agent for change. This individual will also be comfortable driving change through a complex matrix reporting environment and have the ability to gain support for change from different parts of eBay.
This individual will have exceptional leadership experience and a successful track record in achieving and exceeding operational goals in a high growth ecommerce/financial services business. This individual must have a strong risk background in merchant acquiring or payment processing particularly in risk assessment. A demonstrated ability to build and guide high performing teams is critical.
Additionally he/she will need to have a strong appreciation for understanding risk tolerances and balancing managing seller risk and growing sales volume. A strong understanding of business structure, automated application processing systems, business data, public record data, and credit bureau data is also essential.
The successful candidate should have experience in delivering strategic solutions for a very diverse commercial and consumer customer base. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of being creative and innovative with risk mitigation techniques as well as delivery against tough odds, the ability to turn chaos into order, repeatedly, and on a large scale. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.
This risk management professional will have a deep risk management background with the proven ability to potentially operate in a multi-location organization by providing clear direction to a global team, without the benefit of direct reporting lines, as well as inspiring them to take on new challenges and exceed expectations.
MS/MBA/MA degree or equivalent
A minimum of 10+ years related financial services experience with a BS/BA degree.
5+ years of previous management experience preferred
