What you’ll be doing...

Provide expertise, vision and leadership in developing and executing a comprehensive 1-5 year growth strategy for the Consumer market. Apply best in class strategic planning processes and tools that emphasize financial modeling and competitive analysis to develop strategic plans that drive transformational growth from inception through execution.

Strategy definition

  • Apply VZ’s strategic framework and develop the long term perspective for the Consumer domain with a strong outside-in orientation

  • Develop domain-specific management tools and methodologies to further define strategic priorities

  • Lead the strategic planning process for the VZW Consumer domain

  • Contribute expertise in competitive dynamics , emerging trends, risks and opportunities for the Consumer domain

  • Operationalize VZW’s end to end digital and mobile first strategies for the Consumer domain and guide the team through assessment of alternative distribution formats

  • Operationalize VZW’s go-to-market strategy based on segmentation and differentiation of the Consumer domain

  • Work with VZ business units to identify/propose/evaluate ways to expand or cultivate new partnerships

  • Participate and partner with consumer counterparts of the business (e.g., Marketing, Finance) to consistently integrate the strategic thinking/planning

Analytics/Financial Management

  • Support the development of strategic frameworks, customer and competitor insights, technology trend assessments, and business cases to ensure the leadership team is engaging in strategic conversations re: the Consumer domain

  • Develop strategic reports to highlight macro and consumer trends, key competitors and new entrants, compelling business models, disruptive/emerging technologies—and successfully translate these into comprehensive insights and implications for the Consumer domain

  • Apply data-based analytical thinking to understand and respond to external marketplace trends and to frame medium term operational levers including distribution, customer care and networks operations

  • Anticipate and support executive management in responding to domain trends by contributing business cases and analytics that are linked to strategy and financial plans

  • Manage complex research and analyses to drive business case development for key strategic focus areas

  • Work closely with product teams to articulate the strategic rationale for the domain and to define the business model for revenue generation and support the business case development

Governance & Stakeholdering

  • Adhere to annual operations budget, and provide regular reporting

  • Provide weekly and monthly status updates to senior executives

  • Work collaboratively with business unit partners and corporate support teams to drive enterprise strategy execution, and partner on segment on functional strategy projects

  • Define strategic imperatives in close partnership with network and finance organizations

Leadership

  • Models and creates a collaborative and partnering operating model for the organization

  • Relies upon a consultative approach in all planning partnerships that reinforces the enterprise-wide strategic planning process, provides financial and analytical expertise, and identifies synergies/lack thereof amongst VZW BU strategic plans

  • Foster and facilitate alignment across the business, field leadership, executives and our corporate partners

  • Identify, prioritize, structure and lead multiple projects or major project work streams to deliver on wireless strategy (i.e., Distribution Strategy - drive segmentation strategy within the overarching distribution strategy)

  • Manage 6 direct reports who provide project management and operational support for marketing products and services and lead national process improvement initiatives.

  • Cultivate a team that is focused on operational excellence

What we’re looking for...

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BA/BS in Business/ Marketing, MBA Preferred.
  • 8-10 plus years strategy experience in a leadership role
  • 5 plus years management experience
  • 3 years of segmentation strategy experience
  • Multi-cultural experience and bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Experience in wireless industry a plus
  • Passion for operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated history of progressive responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement projects.
  • Large organizational experience across diverse work groups.
  • Broad industry knowledge of business operations.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful leadership and employee development.
  • Superior analytical, conceptual, organizational, written and oral communication, problem solving, decision making and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead large cross functional teams with varying levels of participants.
