MetLife Americas retail life products consist of traditional (term, whole life) and non-traditional (variable life, universal life) products, representing about $70 billion of statutory reserves.  The Experience Studies lead for MetLife Americas retail life products is responsible for reviewing and analyzing experience over these products and provides management a sound basis for assumption setting. 

 

 

  • Conduct experience studies (mortality, lapse, premium persistency) for MetLife’s traditional and non-traditional life products, according to an established study calendar
  • Present results of experience studies to upper management or the assumption review committee to consider as bases for non-economic assumptions for loss recognition testing, cash flow testing, pricing, and/or embedded value purposes
  • Enhance current systems or applications to migrate legacy mainframe programs into controlled production environments
  • Working with IT, identify and address data issues that can lead to inaccurate experience results
  • Utilize currently available tools (DataMart) to reconcile and validate experience data
  • Manage two associates in the GOSC that support the PolySystems Measure runs for the various experience studies and trails

 

  • 10+ years of experience within a finance or actuarial function
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred, or career ASA
  • Knowledge of PolySystems software (e.g. LifeMaster, Delphi, Measure)
  • Experience with Database applications desired
  • Excels at fostering teamwork and managing associates in different geographic locations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
