POSITION SUMMARY:

 

TIAA’s Production Services team manages our core infrastructure assets. Our team is responsible for design, engineering, implementation and operations of the firm’s infrastructure footprint.  Production Services operations provides the first line of support on any production related issues including our network and telecommunications, computing (middleware), and end-user support, as well as the firm’s 24x7 data center operations. The Production Services team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.

As a Senior Director, Senior Lead Infrastructure Manager you will be primarily responsible for all aspects involved in delivering TIAA’s public cloud infrastructure services and platforms as a strategic hosting service for the firm’s application workloads.  In collaboration with other technical domains the responsibilities will include the engineering and implementation of a hybrid cloud strategy for the firm spanning strategy, engineering, implementation, on-boarding and operational functions. A primary goal of this role is also to lead a team of technologists to drive cloud on-boarding and adoption across the enterprise by optimizing cloud benefits, and commercially managing costs, while collaborating with other technology, application development and business functions across the firm to expand and establish the firm’s cloud hosting capabilities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Accountable for establishing the TIAA public cloud service offering including architecture, design, engineering, operations, and on-boarding
  • Collaborate with existing domain leaders to develop, engineer, and implement a hybrid cloud strategy by expanding on existing technology capabilities
  • Build and lead a highly technical, and cross domain, team necessary to design, engineer, deliver, and operate a comprehensive cloud offering for an enterprise with the necessary controls and foundation
  • Drive large cloud programs and governance across technology and non-technology organizations within the enterprise
  • Lead in influencing and navigating across organizational and business boundaries
  • Communicate the strategic direction of cloud to senior leaders in both technology and the business
  • Leverage emerging technologies to drive transformation within the enterprise
  • Responsible for cloud application architecture patters and proven track record in driving application adoption of cloud offerings across the enterprise with proven commercial benefits
  • Understand technical and non-technical challenges with public cloud adoption within the enterprise and develop strategies to mitigate and address them
  • Understand Quality and Reliability Engineering concepts and maintain industry leading SLT for cloud offerings
  • Automate and abstract the delivery of diverse workloads to cloud landing zones through DevOps automation best practices, microservices and containers, cloud management platforms, and other mechanisms
  • Manage and develop tolls, platforms, products, and strategies in designing and implementing the necessary controls and management frameworks for an enterprise cloud offering
  • Understand and collaborate with other business functions in addressing legal and legislative matters and their impact to implementing public cloud services and data management
  • Drive a scalable, highly-available, and cost optimize data architecture for cloud implementations
  • Drive the appropriate financial model for cloud enabled workloads


QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Experience

  • Fifteen or more years of technology related experience
  • Experience managing technical teams, preferably in an enterprise public/private cloud environment
  • Proven and deep knowledge of private, public, and hybrid cloud platforms, implementation, paradigms at scaling within an enterprise setting
  • Experience with IaaS and PaaS across AWS (required) and Azure (preferred) offerings
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compute, devops, software, application, and system engineering for public and private enterprise cloud offerings

Desired Experience

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to interface with senior executive management
  • Ability to manage a global team consisting of domestic and offshore resources
  • Ability to handle critical situations – know when to escalate and how to make decisions based on risk
