Job Summary


The Asset Management Group of Brighthouse Financial is responsible for the strategic and tactical asset allocation for the Company’s approximately $90 billion investment portfolio.  The commercial real estate portfolio manager will be primarily responsible for managing the commercial real estate assets of the Company.  This person will be an active participant in all aspects of the asset management process, including asset allocation, understanding and managing key market risks and opportunities, investment manager selection and oversight and reporting performance results.  This position will report to the Head of Asset Management.




  • Develop the fundamental and relative value view of the commercial real estate sector.
  • Responsible for managing the overall risk and performance of the commercial real estate investment portfolio.
  • Active participant in developing the overall investment strategy for the investment portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic and tactical asset allocation process.
  • Help select external asset managers.
  • Manage relationships with external managers, including the ability to push back on managers when necessary.
  • Review individual transactions that are being considered for the portfolio.
  • Contribute toward defining and implementing performance benchmarks for the portfolio and help in the performance attribution process.
  • Communicate risk, return and performance to all stakeholders.




  • 15 + years of finance experience
  • 7+ years of commercial real estate experience.
  • Experience with both commercial mortgage and real estate equity investments.
  • Agricultural mortgage experience also a plus.
  • Experience managing and interacting with third party asset managers.
  • Ability to perform and understand quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collegial environment.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Bloomberg.
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred.
