As the Director of Communications for the Microsoft U.S. President, you will have the opportunity to be the voice behind the voice, establishing the brand for this Executive, both internally and externally. This role will see the business through the lens of the President and collaborate across the leadership team and field to capture our best customer transformation stories and bring them to life at scale!
As the Director of Executive Communications, you will own defining and leading how we bring to life Digital Transformation through customer and partner stories and demos of the Customer Solution Areas. You will be a critical player in defining the messages delivered by this senior executive through internal and external communications including keynotes, videos, social media and PR. In this role, you will directly support the President of Microsoft U.S., reporting into their Chief of Staff. You will help the President of Microsoft U.S. extend their reach to the 7,000+ people they lead, by building and executing against a communications plan that amplifies their voice, aligns to the corporate communications strategy and overall company mission, and leverages appropriate communications vehicles (e.g. in-person, online, social, traditional, etc.). The person occupying this role will as also work cross-functionally across the entire U.S. Leadership team and will be responsible for full end-to-end management of speaker preparation, rehearsals, briefing documents and supporting materials. This individual must thrive in a very fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multi-task across a variety of projects. The ability to build strong work back plans with clear deliverables is critical.
•Develop and execute against a comprehensive executive communications plan that encompasses relevant message platforms, storytelling, event execution, speaker image and personal development and covers both external and internal communications
•Support the development and creation of presentations used by executives aligned with overall communications strategy
•Lead and manage the various work streams and deliverables leading up to major presentations working with key internal departments (marketing, business management, field) to ensure that we are driving the right internal agenda across the business that inspires and guides our field teams across major corporate events
•Work across the U.S. subsidiary to gather data and content for internal and external communications
•Coordinate with internal and external staff to ensure all on-site logistics are in place ensuring flawless execution of events Measure the effectiveness of your communications
•Work effectively and gain respect of diverse groups, including executives, other executive staff, content and business owners, and event production teams
•A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management and/or communications is required.
•Listening and collaboration - Gather requirements and work together with event or initiative owners Social Media - Depth in Social Media including experience designing and executing Social Media campaigns and measuring the success and impact of these campaigns
•Written communication - write scripted speeches, blogs, emails and more Messaging and positioning skills - build messaging frameworks from scratch
•Cultural awareness - identify and accommodate cultural differences and drive a spirit of diversity and inclusion across all communications
•Mastery of communications mix - Strong preference for previous PR and/or Executive Communications experience; candidate must be able to manage a complex communications campaign across a wide variety of internal and external communications platforms
•Research/analysis skills - the ability to research audience, technologies, industry trends, & financial data and report on success of Internal and External Communications
•Attention to detail - Required in all briefing materials, slides, and statistics included in speeches
•Executive maturity - must be an exemplary and respectful representative of the executive at all times.
•Willingness to travel - Frequent travel for up to a week at a time
•Optimism/resilience - the ability to remain positive amidst constructive criticism
•Discretion - Required with sensitive corporate material Project management - the ability to manage multiple speeches/press engagements simultaneously
