Visa's Innovation & Strategic Partnerships (I&SP) is a global client facing organization that sets Visa's public innovation agenda, develops commercial partnerships with industry leading brands and platform providers, and promotes hands on incubation and rapid prototyping to demonstrate the art of the possible for clients and partners.
Within I&SP, the Innovation Activation team creates and manages a global program of product and innovation interactive experiences at Visa Sponsored events and tradeshows (FIFA, Olympics, NFL, Money 2020 and others) The team has an open position as Director, Global Innovation Operations.
The Director - Innovation will engage with various stakeholders within and outside of Visa to develop new capabilities/user experiences on Visa platform specifically for events. Within specific areas of focus, he or she will drive the vision, partner outreach and engagement and subsequent creation of the prototype. He/she will interact with executives and others in client and partner organizations to brainstorm payment innovation ideas and rapidly prototype working proof of concepts. He/she will then evangelize the proof of concept within and outside of Visa, and work closely with product teams in Visa to drive pilot launch at events, and plan for eventual commercializations.
He/she will bring prior experience in hands-on development of solutions, UI and prototypes, and a close knowledge of developments in technology (mobile, cloud, APIs, etc.) and commerce (omni-channel, digital payments, etc.). He/she is creative and hands-on, developing working prototypes where necessary and leading other solution developers where available. The ideal candidate will demonstrate depth of thinking and experiences across card issuing, merchant payment solutions, new payments capabilities (tokens,
mobile). He/she is passionate about payments and has meaningful understanding of developments in the areas of IoT, blockchain, AR/VR, data, and other technologies.
The Director must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. He/she must be willing to support complex, immersive and leading edge technologies. Finally, the Director must have strong
project management skills. This position will require approximately 30% travel.
- Brainstorm with internal and external teams to develop ideas and
potential solutions for payment innovation - piloting at events
- Rapidly convert ideas into working prototypes, mashing together
solutions/capabilities that exist within Visa or externally.
- Direct a team of UI/UX and
development resources to build a working proof of concept
- Work cross functionally across Visa organizations and partners to
ensure on-time delivery
- Lead clients/partners and internal product and development teams to
drive development and deployment
- Identify key innovation
opportunities for Visa, and identify potential partners
- Evangelize innovations within and outside Visa, in order to pave way
for commercialization/ product roll out.
- Create a network of technical people within Visa to call on for
special requirements and recommendations.
- Prepare for and attend global events to lead
pilot/prototypes. Lead the interactive experience and technology in a client
- Test all technology, apps, content and demonstrations
prior to events and onsite
- Troubleshoot any technical issues, solve technical
problems, and communicate results.
- Cross train event specific stakeholders on experiences
and basic support. Supervise setup of experiences onsite at events
- Prepare debrief and evaluations of experiences
- Bachelors Degree (engineering or computer science, or
related degree preferred)
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in product innovation
(fin tech, bank, or technology consulting, focused on payments and/or commerce)
- Experience in client facing engagements, preferably in
