Role Summary/Purpose

The Director IT Brilliant Software Factory Leader is responsible for IT operational excellence in delivery of infrastructure solutions, environments and services that enable Grid Software Solutions to continue to be a market leader in utilities operation and information technology solutions enabling reliable, affordable and renewable energy.

Essential Responsibilities

Grid Software Solutions is building a world class IT software factory team to focus on total availability of critical IT Infrastructure and services shared across the business. The team is composed of highly talented individuals obsessively focused on availability, security and implementing technology solutions for a passionate team of software developers and project delivery specialists.

The ideal individual is a proven leader who can build and grow technical teams; has a strong technical background and is passionate for automating everything and totally committed to delivering amazing customer experiences.

As the Director IT Brilliant Software Factory Leader, you will:

* Define the operating structure, processes, procedures and talent profiles required to build a world class team

* Develop automated strategy and solutions to address potential problems before they result in a service interruption

* Build a customer obsessed culture that focuses on customer success as its primary goal

* Partner with business and IT leaders to design for security, reliability and operational excellence across the technologies suite of tools and resources

* Lead a team of systems, network, security, application, and automation engineers responsible for wing to wing delivery of IT services and platforms depended upon by a global Software Business

* Manage performance, coach team members, and resources team appropriately to deliver on objectives while driving a culture of excellence

* Establish and enable a proactive, outcomes-oriented culture of accountability and partnership within the teams where 'not my job' is not an answer

* Provide leadership and hands-on technical direction to deliver problem, solution, tactical, and break-fix capability

* Oversee and provide leadership direction during operational incidents, ensuring necessary resourcing and availability of subject matter expertise as well as proactive, business communications

* Provide incident leadership includes on-call duty, as required

* Facilitate genesis of solutions in a productive, efficient manner, working across technologies and geographies to deliver customer-focused business outcomes

* Manage performance and availability, while adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements

* Deliver change and incident management to drive industry leading operational excellence

* Drive successful business outcomes beyond the immediate incident or need

* Investigate and develop new best practices and methodologies

* Comply with an actively enhance the effectiveness of ISO27001 and 9001 frameworks

* Own the DevOps strategy for the business

* Own and manage the Software Development and delivery tools

* Develop application strategy in partnership with senior leaders from the software, development and delivery functions


* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Management / Technology

* A minimum of 5 years of IT work experience

* Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong relationship management ability

* Demonstrated use of project management methodologies to execute project deliverables, including waterfall development methodologies, processes, and techniques with exposure to agile / scrum methodology

* Effective organization, analytical and multi-tasking skills and attention to detail

* Excellent oral communication skills, whether in person or via teleconference, as well as written communication skills

* Prior experience in Software Development, Delivery or Testing or undertaking similar responsibilities in a Software Business

* Solid knowledge of continuous development and continuous integration process and framework for keeping cloud up to date with latest patches, security fixes and releases OpenStack and Linux

* Understand data center networking fabric topologies and common architectures deployed both Layer 2 and Layer 3 based

* Availability to respond and lead resolution to on-call escalations for urgent issues

* Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong relationship management ability

* Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills at all levels of the organization as well as with external organizations

* Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions;

* Anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve; creates actionable strategies and operational plans

* In-depth experience resolving complex technology Product and Service events

* Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others.

* Change oriented - actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways

* Ability to build/lead cross-functional teams, engage and influence individuals at multiple levels within and external to the organization, and influence direction with Senior IT Leaders

* Able to lead current and evolving initiatives across the matrix, leveraging global resources across verticals, business partners, and vendor resources as needed

* Strong business acumen; experience managing financials, budget, operating plans

* Ability to set and drive strategy in a complex business environment where technical requirements are continuously evolving and where technical and business solutions are undefined

* Ability to identify and capitalize on synergies (technical, process, etc.) across the organization in order to maximize the functionality of the technology and drive business solutions

* Enthusiastic to find ways to make customers successful

* Ability to work well within small team focused on rapid delivery of results
