About the Role:

Fiserv is seeking a Creative Director to join its dynamic, high energy Global Brand team. This talented individual will have the ability to easily comprehend business objectives and “see” the possibilities for enabling them through a creative vision that bolsters marketing campaigns, digital initiatives and communications. The Creative Director will bring a unique set of skills to the team, such as the ability to quickly articulate creative concepts and work with internal clients and a team of designers and writers to further refine, develop and polish those ideas to deliver high-quality creative that enables business results.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic leader with a portfolio that reflects his/her expertise in developing creative strategies and deliverables that clearly enhance business strategy. This individual will have the proven ability to lead and inspire a team of designers and writers, fostering a positive environment that values imagination, innovation and a commitment to enabling high-quality outcomes. This position reports to the Vice President, Brand Management and Marketing Communications.

Essential Job Responsibilities:  

Creative Leadership

  • Establish Fiserv creative vision and strategy that aligns with established brand identity
  • Enable positive outcomes through the alignment of business objectives and creative strategy and solutions
  • Lead the development of creative strategies that enhance marketing campaigns, digital initiatives and communications
  • Articulate a clear methodology for the creative process from concept ideation and development through to delivery and measurement
  • Lead a team of in-house creative services professionals, including graphic designers and copywriters, to develop and execute on creative strategies through to completion of deliverables and measurement of outcomes
  • Develop a stable of external agencies and freelance talent to supplement demand for creative services
  • Ensure consistent brand experience across all deliverables, such as sales collateral, presentations, video, web content, advertising, events, etc.
  • Establish productive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure collaborative approach to achieving business objectives 
  • Employ strong written and verbal communications skills to communicate recommendations for creative strategy
  • Translate complex concepts and information into straightforward creative solutions
  • Review and provide feedback on team contributions to continuously raise performance

Creative Excellence

  • Demonstrate proficiency in bringing brand voice, personality and look and feel to life through storytelling, imagery, campaign messaging, etc.
  • Manage projects from concept to completion and ensure the translation of marketing objectives into dynamic creative strategies
  • Establish a standard for presenting creative concepts to internal clients and ensure high quality presentations are delivered
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Fiserv brand and maintain its integrity in creative development
  • Establish high standards for creative services with an emphasis on:  critical thinking, problem-solving, clear articulation of rationale for recommendations, quality of deliverables, attention to detail, and impact/effect on business outcomes
  • Maintain a focus on results and resource management through a highly organized approach to managing projects and prioritization
  • Prioritize assignments for team members based on capacity and capabilities, and ensure they are equipped to deliver excellent creative recommendations/output
  • Share creative and strategic expertise to drive improvements in team’s overall effectiveness
  • Inspire excellence and great design/copywriting through critiques and mentoring
  • Be accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery of creative services
  • Establish processes for reviewing creative output to ensure standards for brand integrity (voice/tone and visual impact), innovation, accuracy, quality and consistency are met
  • Ensure alignment with Production and Project Management functions

  • Stay abreast of trends in design and technology to ensure creative solutions are relevant and reflective of a global technology leader

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Fine Arts, Advertising, Marketing or other related field)
  • MFA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years proven experience in Creative Director role
  • Experience in financial services and/or technology industry a plus
  • Experience working in a corporate environment a plus
  • Must be willing to work in Alpharetta, GA location

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 10+ years’ experience in design, brand development, and creative process applied to environments, digital and print media in support of integrated marketing communications programs
  • Track record in leading a creative team – includes talent assessment; organizing, prioritizing and assigning work; administrative management responsibilities; feedback/coaching; mentoring to raise performance
  • Strong conceptual thinker and creative problem solver
  • Ability to storyboard/sketch or translate ideas to designers and other stakeholders to spark further idea generation or refinement
  • Strong design and/or copywriting abilities required
  • Proven ability to drive brand and creative strategies through an organization
  • Resilience in accepting creative feedback and managing multiple inputs while being able to clearly articulate a well thought out point of view
  • Ability to use influence to arrive at pragmatic solutions that maintain the integrity of the Fiserv brand/creative vision and enable positive business outcomes
  • Collaborative approach/mindset
  • Ability to act as player/coach
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with executives, account managers, and internal and external clients; and make evaluative judgments
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality is a must
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with current graphic design software and tools, practices and procedures including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML and others
  • Extensive experience and proficiency in managing the editorial development process; knowledge of Fiserv Voice and AP Style will be required
  • Extensive knowledge of production processes for print, environmental or digital media
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with Production and Project Management teams to facilitate a complete creative development and delivery process
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, possibilities and  limitations of media
  • Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize team assignments, manage resource utilization, load balance, adhere to budgets
  • Willingness to provide feedback and support to team members to continually improve the quality of creative content and delivery

Travel Required:

  • Ability to travel as needed (potentially 20% of the time – may include some weekends)
