Reporting to the Enterprise Metals Category Leader, the Metals Director will lead the development and implementation of Material & Supplier strategies that supports Enterprise/Franchise requirements, current and future. Through Enterprise collaboration and influence, he/she will characterize and develop strategies to reduce and/or limit supply base proliferation and create a collaborative environment that leads to the use of high performing suppliers, materials and products. He/She will develop and drive the Metals strategy for the Enterprise and provide overall coordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice Category leadership and will leverage J&J’s position in the industry.
He/She will be a key leader within the Metals Enterprise Category team. The leader is expected to provide a practical and intellectual understanding of the global J&J metals materials and supplier space, inclusive of Supplier Market and Technology in order to provide a strong combination of strategic vision and hands-on leadership in support of Base Business, Advanced Sourcing and R&D. He/She will lead Metals strategies through the tactical execution and implementation of the Enterprise strategies and provide guidance through project and program support, as required.
The Metal Category Director will be responsible for leading and executing Category Strategies and resources in support of approximately $750 MM in Metals spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies Globally. This spend is highly complex in nature and requires a close collaboration with key stakeholders within the business to implement a strategy and execute. This individual will identify sub-categories for the Metals space, develop and direct the implementation of Procurement and Business goals and strategy. Plan and direct the organization’s activities and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, innovation, service, sustainability and compliance adherence.
He/She will provide Enterprise Leadership for developing end-to-end category leadership activities such as category strategy development, maintaining key relationships within the business and support of key supplier relationships. The position must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and execute Metals strategies that are aligned with the business/sector needs including strategies to reduce and/or limit supplier proliferation and drive optimization. Able to translate VOC (internal stakeholders) into Supplier solutions. Possess a clear mastery of theoretical and practical fundamentals and engineering techniques. Has ability to manage several priorities and influence Engineering and Technical groups.
Understand Markets and suppliers both current and others in the Metals space and lead analysis activities/recommendations for Low Cost Countries, supplier risk analysis, Tax and manufacturing location implications etc.
Participate in industry research and market analysis in order to stay current with best in class technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques. Monitor and benchmark existing supply base within the global marketplace.
Ensure development and execution of sub-category strategies and Category Scorecard
Support and recommend Supply Base Optimization strategies and identify opportunities to right size supply base with Diverse and Innovative Metals suppliers
Drive data capture and analysis to properly segment and categorize existing Metals spend
Lead cross functional team meetings with stakeholders and provide updates to Global Procurement Leadership
Identify opportunities for Metals impact regardless of business sector (Pharm, MD&D and/or Consumer) and identify specific initiatives
