Our client is hiring for a Directorof Engineering job in the Portland, Maine area. They are creating cutting edge electronic products used for the world's most demanding markets. You will provide leadership to the design engineering, product development team of talented EE, SE, ME, ID and PCB layout professionals. You will be joining a company that has been in business for over three decades with a start-of-the-art facility in southern Maine. The Director of Engineering Job Responsibilities: Provide hands-on leadership for design engineering, project management and problem solving efforts. Mentor, coach and develop staff on engineering design process, best practices, estimating and problem solving. Measure the performance of the group to ensure high-levels of efficiency and customer satisfaction. Utilize measurements to drive group continuous improvement activities. Monitor and forecast product development service demand and match resources appropriately. Identify and maintain outside resources to augment staffing needs. Support sales as the design engineering and product development subject matter expert by presenting our capabilities in a compelling manner Seek to understand the customer's needs and their problems to be solved and envision solutions that meet those needs. Support the proposal team to created detailed SOW with consideration of scope, schedule and cost to enable the project to succeed. Lead the strategic vision for product development group. Identify and implement the latest technology to enhance the growth of the organization. Qualifications: Ten or more years of experience in product development. Solid hands-on experience as an electrical engineer. Proven success in a management role leading an engineering team. Medical device development experience. BSEE or related engineering discipline. Proven success in a customer-facing role. Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities. Desire to stay current with the latest technology to ensure the continual growth of the organization. Excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to foster communication and cohesiveness within the department and the entire company.
