Assists the board in monitoring financial operations while complying with regulations from the state and federal government. Partners with the management team to align company financials with strategic Direction. Must build and develop processes and procedures to support business needs. Directly Supervises the Assistant Director Finance and Senior Financial Specialist.

As a representative of the non profit, must be committed in all that you do to support, perpetuate, and model the non profit Mission.
Coordinate the financial operations of non propfit, including:

Preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
Preparation of monthly financial statements for internal and external reporting
Development and implementation of best practices
Grant application preparation

Compliance reporting for grants, funding agencies, and governmental units (CFR/CQR, PCPCR, IRS Form 990)

Cash management

Act as liaison to:

Board of Directors
Finance Committee
Independent Auditors
Banking/Investment Partner
Vendors

Supervise Finance Department responsible for:

Financial statement preparation
Compliance reporting
General Ledger maintenance
Medicaid billing
Payroll processing
Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
Purchasing

Participate in Senior Team with responsibility for the development and implementation of organizational objectives and programming to achieve operational objectives
Special tasks and projects as assigned by President/CEO



Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Management desired, but not required.
Five (5) to ten (10) years experience in a not-for-profit organization preferred.
New York State CPA certification desired but not required.
Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting concepts for not-for-profit organizations including:

Fund accounting
Treatment of restricted, temporarily restricted, and unrestricted net assets
Tax and informational reporting requirements

Must possess a well-developed understanding of business operations
Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently
Must be able to direct the work of and delegate to others
Must possess proficiency in a variety of computer programs including:
MS Office Suite, especially in Excel and Word
Fund accounting software (Fund EZ)
NYS CFR/CQR software
NYS DOH Personal Care Provider Cost Report (PCPCR) software
Internet banking
Must be timely in response to requests of information
Must possess and demonstrate a professional attitude and demeanor in the treatment of confidential organization, employee, and consumer information
Must possess excellent verbal and listening skills
