CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grain Marketing group. We are looking for a Director of Global Trade Execution to manage both customer expectations and facilitation of the trade and logistics. You must have excellent organizational and management skills with strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

You will:
  • Define, align and implement best practices for the Global Trade Execution services to ensure that policies and processes are followed for successful timely completion of trade/shipments on a CFR, CIF, FOB basis.
  • Manage all Global Trade Execution staff; actively engage and provide direction to staff in international offices.
  • Liaise with Traders/Merchants to ensure that proposed contract terms and specifications are consistent with company policy and are within CHS’ acceptable risk profile.
  • Interact extensively with internal and external partners and ensure the smooth flow of information between various departments and external stakeholders. Maintain and enhance relationships to improve Trade Execution.
  • Maintain regular contact with Finance and Accounting to coordinate on open payables, receivables and accruals as well as ensure that bank lines of credit are available to execute trade efficiently.
  • Monitoring bulk vessel and container shipment schedules.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Traders to discuss status of vessel/documentation and provide mitigation actions, as appropriate.
  • Forecast and monitor execution risk; take pre-emptive actions to minimize risk. Implement contingency plans for problem resolution / risk mitigation.
  • Challenge processes to improve regional trade execution efficiency.
  • Monitor execution costs and accrual provisions.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews of direct reports, set performance targets that are consistent with global and regional goals / expectations.
  • Identify the necessary skill sets required to meet business demands to participate in recruitment. Ensure that compensation and retention strategies are aligned to meet need.
  • Foster and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Basic Qualifications: (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 15 years of experience within the Agriculture commodities market to include:
    • Working with international banks and financing partners
    • Understanding of supply chain activities and key supply chain processes
    • Understanding of payment instruments and applicable rules governing them
    • In depth understanding of GAFTA trade rules and terms
    • Knowledge of documents commonly used in international trade
    • Knowledge and application of contract law and rules governing international trade
  • 5 plus years of experience managing direct and indirect team of 10 plus employees
Preferred Qualifications: (desired)
  • GAFTA training certification
  • Experience managing teams across multiple time-zones
  • Experience in international agricultural commodity trading
  • Experience with SAP, BSM or other trade platforms for Trade Execution
