  • Lead communications strategy and activity specific to Takeda’s products and compounds
  • Promote, protect, and defend Takeda’s assets
  • Provide communications counsel to Global Program Teams (GPTs), key leadership, and affiliates
  • Develop and implement processes, tools, and trainings to improve affiliate communications
  • Oversee communications for established brands and affiliate-led brands, collaborating closely with Head of Product & Pipeline Communications and Regional Communications Leads
  • Pursue and build improved digital and social media activities around Takeda’s products and compounds

  • Develop and execute external and internal communications strategy for Takeda’s products and compounds
  • Support commercial and clinical teams with communication advice and execution
  • Build awareness of and promote key products and compounds and defending them over the course of their lifecycles
  • Develop communication strategy and create and execute corresponding communication plans and materials for key launches
  • Serve as chief communication strategist and counsellor to brand and clinical leadership and providing cross brand and cross regional guidance in collaboration with corporate communication colleagues
  • Lead communications efforts in issues management situations
  • Serve as a communication counselor to affiliates and Established Products Team
  • Ensure on-time media monitoring, including brand activities and industry issues and recommending appropriate communication
  • Build and manage a network of regional and local communicators
  • Develop and implement processes, tools, and trainings to improve affiliate communications
  • Build improved digital and social media activities around Takeda’s products and compounds
  • Ensure alignment of communication strategy with Takeda’s corporate strategies, business objectives, mission, and vision
  • Coordinate communication plans with communications network to ensure the effective and efficient creation and implementation of activities
  • Act as first point of contact for media inquiries related to the relevant assets
  • Maintain working relationships with influential health journalists and bloggers
  • Coordinate and train internal media spokespeople for any journalist inquiries and issues related to the relevant assets
  • Monitor outcomes against measurable objectives and indicators e.g. media coverage, social media conversations, content analysis, website analytics
  • Manage agency team(s) and budgets
  • Contribute to Product & Pipeline team deliverables and activities, especially with regard to providing innovative ideas and recommendations for improvement
  • Assist with team deliverables, helping to keep business momentum when working across time zones


  • Significant experience (10+ years preferred) in biotech or pharmaceutical communications. At least two years of experience providing communication support for products or compounds
  • Experience in driving and implementing creative programming globally to meet brand objectives
  • Experience implementing digital an social media strategies and programs in a highly regulated environment
  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g. undergraduate or post-graduate degree in communication management, public relations, journalism, health economics, bio-medical sciences or similar)
  • Strong management, planning and implementation skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to influence and persuade
  • Substantial experience in working in a multicultural environment
  • Energy and ability to energize and motivate business
  • Ability to deliver in high pressure situations and with short deadlines
