DESCRIPTION: As Software Engineering Director, you will lead the effort on a variety of projects in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. Your role is to manage a small team, and design innovative concepts to real market problems. You will work closely with marketing, engineering, and other teams to create proof of concepts and architectures for new areas of interest. This position reports to the VP of Development. Role Responsibilities - Responsible for managing a small team of architects and developers to provide software architecture and the design of SW proof of concepts, in areas such as VR/AR, cognitive technologies, and IOT. - Utilizes a range of applicable technologies for concepts to be used in client product systems. - Develops long-range plans and creates specific strategies to achieve goals. Often interacts with executives, both internal and external. - Establishes strategic plans that may impact the entire engineering organization or company. - Uses independent judgment to develop strategies and implement operational policies and directives, communicates progress toward corporate goals. - Participates in corporate strategy development through advocacy for programs and projects within their area. - Make decisions and implements policies that affect areas of the company outside their own functional area. - Serve as technical consultant and technical leader. Champions and develops innovative principles and ideas, links multiple and varied concepts to develop new and workable ideas. - Generates and protects IP through patents and other methods. QUALIFICATION: Requirements - 10+ years of experience in SW development and/or SW architecture - Experience in managing a team of developers and architects to achieve strategic and operational objectives - Familiarity with multiple SW tools and languages, agile processes, documentation, and product design - Ability to communicate analysis and build consensus around recommendations - Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment - Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems - Ability to interact and influence with other teams to define requirements and/or selection of partners - Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science or related field Preferences - Masters degree in computer engineering or computer science or related field Company Description With more than 100,000 team members globally, we promote an environment that is rooted in the entrepreneurial spirit in which the company was founded.
