As a Director, Strategy in the Norton Business Unit, you will define the multi-year strategy and vision for Norton and its products and lead strategic initiatives aligned with the vision. While primarily focused on developing the product strategy, you will also identify go-to-market plays and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop an aligned list of company-wide initiatives to lead. You will also be responsible for assessing build/buy/ally alternatives to find effective ways to execute on strategy.

This role requires a keen understanding of the consumer technology space including consumer needs and their evolution, understanding existing players and their offerings, and anticipating trends for emerging products, services and business models.


  • Conduct consumer market analysis of existing and emerging marketing spaces and drive prioritization to identity growth opportunities for Norton
  • Evaluate competitors in consumer security and adjacent market spaces to identify best practices from a product, customer experience, customer upsell/cross-sell and go-to-market perspective
  • Build organizational understanding of product markets including identification of potential technologies, best practices, competitors and partners, merger and acquisitions, and strategies
  • Analyze existing products from a competitive and market perspective to provide strategic input and guidance to individual product managers to create and enhance monetization strategies for their products and concepts
  • Own and drive periodic prioritization of various product-led initiatives across cross-functional teams and develop clear recommendations
  • Provide thought-leadership to Norton Product Management leadership for establishing and improving product launch process that can improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support strategic projects for Norton Executive Leadership as well as Symantec ELT
  • Establish performance reporting mechanisms for individual products and work with product managers to publish regular dashboards
  • On strategic initiatives, provide operational direction to the cross-functional team (such as program management, marketing, Engineering, customer support, finance, etc.) on a day-to-day basis, defining the critical priorities for the teams
  • Contribute actively to innovation. Drive the development of business cases for concepts that warrant investment potential related to own product/service or transformation of existing products/services
  • Contribute creatively to broader team and participate in team's innovation and new/transformational concept development activities and drive greater employee engagement
  • Collaborate with sales and business development on partnership opportunities involving 3rd party technology vendors aligned with strategic priorities

To be considered for this role, you must have prior consumer product, services or online experience

  • BS/BA in computer science, business or related discipline. MBA preferred. Minimum 14 years of overall experience
  • At least 6+ years of management consulting experience
  • High tech or technology industry and product experience. Passion for technology and deep understanding of current technology landscape and product life-cycles
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills. Self-starter with a deep passion and motivation to evaluate markets spaces strategically and identify growth opportunities
  • Ownership and "can do" attitude with the passion to own and drive execution of strategic initiatives. Proven track record of strategy formulation and leadership of strategic initiatives
  • Experience managing or crafting external technology partnerships working on end-to-end activities including partner selection, contracting and execution
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to synthesize and articulate complex concepts. Ability to create compelling creative story-telling
  • Solid business acumen and analytical ability including to perform a range of business analytics ranging from problem/root cause identification to modeling new business economics
  • Experience in consumer software, SaaS, Connected Home, mobile, cloud services, IoT markets and Agile development highly desirable
