The Director – Risk Analytics, Monitoring and Governance will be a key role within the Risk Management team directly supporting the Head of Enterprise Risk Management and the Chief Risk Officer of Brighthouse Financial. The individual will be responsible for coordinating risk governance activities, leading implementation and rollout of the operational risk framework, promoting the Company’s risk culture, and ensuring compliance to regulatory requests. The person will ensure consistency and continuity from committee governance and formal risk policies. This risk management professional will actively support the aggregation and reporting of metrics to efficiently and effectively monitor the Company’s adherence to its Risk Appetite Statement.   The individual will work will business leaders across the company and will lead the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process.

 

 

  • Support and maintain the rollout of the Company’s Three Lines of Defense model.
  • Maintain risk management policies and risk committee governance framework.
  • Coordinate with other teams within the Risk Function to produce material for the Operational Risk Committee and the Board.
  • Prepare and present reports for regular and ad hoc management, executive and Board meetings.
  • Support the development and ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk framework and taxonomy.
  • Partner with other control partners in the implementation of a Governance, Risk, and Control application.
  • Lead ongoing development of operational risk reporting and processes such as loss events, key risk indicators, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor financial risk profile and exposures against the stated Risk Appetite.
  • Manage the development of open issues reporting and closure of internal audit issues, SOX and compliance findings, and regulatory observations.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support an annual CRO compensation review to the Board.
  • Prepare regulatory reports, respond to regulatory requests and draft the ORSA report annually.
  • Manage Company’s risk awareness programs including company-wide risk communications and training.
  • Ensure compliance of document retention for risk management organization.
  • Project management of any risk management related business process or information technology projects.
  • Support, collaborate and liaise with the business leaders.

 

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in risk management or related investment of insurance management experience.
  • Solid understanding of risk management practices, regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and to explain technical issues in non-technical language.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders in different departments across the Company.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and make recommendations within agreed timescales.
  • Willingness to challenge and influence other team members and colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance and understanding of the global insurance industry a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Advanced degree and certifications in MBA and/or PMP a plus but not required.
