McKesson has an opening for a Distribution Center Leader (DCL) for our Chicago/Glendale Heights facility.Position Description/General Job Family Information
Responsible for the operational activities of a variety of functional departments, distribution center(s), or facility(ies). Reviews and analyzes reports, records and directives, and confers with managers/ supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered. May be responsible for one or more of the following activities related to the receiving, storing, and/ or shipping of materials or finished goods. May be responsible for ensuring materials are received from proper vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, are available to meet production schedules, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner. Ensures the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. May evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives and develop and implement improved procedures and practices. Gives work direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares budgets.
The DCL is responsible for the overall operational activities of the Distribution Center (DC) including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, and fleet deliveries. This position also includes full financial responsibility for the DC’s P & L activity and the performance management of 121 employees in the Chicago DC. This person must be a strong team builder who plans, organizes, directs, motivates, and ensures the efficient operation of all activities within the DC.
The DCL must have a strong relationship with sales and customer service while leading our DC team to achieve DC objectives in regards to serving our customers, productivity in the DC, Quality, and Safety. The candidate must have 10+ years operational experience including 7+ years leadership experience.

- 121 team members including 1 Ops Managers, 4 Ops Supervisors, and 1 Trans Supervisor
- FY17 sales plan of $190M
- FY16 Total inventory was $17M
- Average lines shipped/day (YTD FY17) - 10,079
- 150,000 sq. ft. facility
- 7 sales leaders and 50+ account managers
- Strong relationship between the Operations and Sales teams
- 10+ years operational experience including 7+ years managerial experience
- Must have proven leadership skills and experience inspiring people, building morale and promoting teamwork
- Ability to engage workforce
- Must be a strategic thinker and able to plan work flow
- Must have experience with P&L management
- Excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills (verbal/written), and management skills
- Must have experience observing Distribution Center processes and implementing efficiency gains

- Experience with safety compliance
