Eaton Corporation located in Sumter, SC has an opening for a Sr. Drafter.  The position is on 1st Shift.
Position Overview
 
Take direction from the Sr. Technicians, Lead Technicians and/or Design Engineers in the conceptualization and design of new products.  Create 3D CAD models and CAD assembly and detail drawings that describe these products, in conformance with department drafting practices.  Create associated bills of material using current computer software programs.  Maintain and update assembly and detail drawings for existing products to ensure they conform to industry standards. 
 
Essential Functions
 
•Develop the assigned 3D models, drawings, design details and bills of material with direction from the Lead Technicians and/or Design Engineers.
•Utilize tools including Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk ACAD, internal MRP systems, Enovia, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
•Utilize knowledge of assembly and component design drawing methods and format component details to complete designs.
•Participate on special projects as needed.
•Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed.
•Receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers so as to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner. Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned function and perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.
•Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.
•Keep assigned work-area clean and organized per 5S standards.
•Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignment.
•Receive information from team members regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to perform one’s function.
•Exhibit strong analytical and problem solving skills so as to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur in the production process.
•Perform Lean Initiatives by recommending suggestions for improvement related to quality, work processes, and environmental safety and health.
•Perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Meet one of the following technical qualifications:
    Associate Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related degree from an accredited institution

     
    HS diploma or GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of experience in design drafting using computer aided 3D CAD design tools.   
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Sumter, SC will be considered
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    Position Criteria
  • Must have a thorough understanding of drafting standards and techniques and capability to visualize components, features and assemblies in a 3D space
  • Must be proficient with commonly used CAD tools and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Process oriented.
  • Mechanical design or power distribution equipment design experience preferred.
