Janssen, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Janssen BioTherapeutics Co-op located in Spring House, PA at Janssen R&D.

This position will be in the Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD) Assay Development group within the Biologics Development Sciences of the Janssen BioTherapeutics at Janssen R&D.  The PK/PD Assay group develops and validates assays to measure biopharmaceutical products and their targets (target engagement) in biological matrices from non-clinical and clinical studies. 

Janssen BioTherapeutics Co-op will:

  • Develop and validate immunological methods for supporting nonclinical and clinical PK studies under GLP guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot the development of new technology platforms (SPARCL, Singulex, etc.) and assay automation.
  • Work with our Compliance & System Support group to validate the instrument to support GLP studies.
  • Focus on the following aspects of method development: Interfacing with Hamilton robotic system with 96-well and 384-well plate capabilities regarding assay steps and potentially sample dilutions; interfacing with Watson LIMS system for data reporting; demonstration of feasibility of applying SPARCL to support nonclinical PK studies by developing robust PK methods; studies will be performed comparing the SPARCL platform to a plate based electrochemiluminescent platform (Meso Scale Discovery) in BCP to demonstrate comparability across platforms in bioanalysis.

  • The ideal candidate is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related scientific discipline with some relevant laboratory experience.
  • The individual must have a strong interest in learning laboratory and scientific techniques.
  • The individual must be able to follow and execute directions correctly under supervision.
  • The candidate must be able to work with human and animal blood, body fluids and tissues.  
  • The successful candidate must have excellent: computer, record keeping, writing and communication skills.
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the 6 month co-op session.
  • Students must be able to provide their own transportation to this location (some public transportation options are available).
  • Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
