eDiscovery Analyst

eBay’s Litigation Department is hiring an analyst to provide support with the company’s data collection, preservation, processing, and production in conjunction with litigation, government inquiries, internal investigations, and other eDiscovery and Records and Information Management projects. The analyst will be responsible for following established workflows for all phases of eDiscovery, from data identification, preservation, and collection through production and data destruction.

The position is located in either eBay's San Jose (CA) or Draper (UT) office.

The successful candidate will participate in the continuing development of eDiscovery projects, including scoping and identifying technology and business solutions for expanded in-house collections and early case assessment, testing, rolling out project solutions and implementing products, continued improvement of best practices, and training users within the legal department and business units as needed.  The analyst must work collaboratively with other members of the Legal Team, the Information Technology department and the business in general on the execution and ongoing development of defensible eDiscovery policies, processes and procedures and their related technologies; will proactively assist the eDiscovery team, the Litigation Group and the Legal Department with problem-solving related to efficient and cost-effective eDiscovery processes and documentation; will provide training and assistance regarding the operation of eDiscovery platforms; and will consult with our legal eDiscovery vendors as well as in-house eDiscovery counsel to manage risk and cost in eDiscovery projects.  The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be detail-oriented, and work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • BA/BS degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in eDiscovery and/or IT at a law firm, in-house legal department and/or eDiscovery vendor.
  • Exhibits an understanding of current eDiscovery practices and familiarity with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
  • Ability to utilize forensic tools to collect, search, recover, sort, and organize electronic information in all phases of an investigation or litigation matter.
  • Proficient in the collection of a wide range of data sources including Exchange/O365/Outlook, SharePoint, file shares, archiving systems, back-up systems, and mobile devices.
  • Experience with a wide range of document review platforms such as Relativity, Ipro, Concordance, and Summation, as well as other eDiscovery data processing tools and applications.
  • Experience with Discovery Attender is a plus.
  • Ability to prepare and process electronically stored information (“ESI”) for loading into document management and review tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to assist the eDiscovery team and Litigation Group with continued development of efficient and cost-effective processes and related documentation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Pro-active with proven experience in effectively managing competing demands and multiple projects.
  • Must be analytical, technical, flexible, and self-motivated.
