The Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S)/Wastewater Technician will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining information and training in support of EHS&S activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the ISO 14001 Standard, J&J EHS&S Standards, and other standards to which J&J subscribes. They operate hazardous and non-hazardous waste system in order to ensure that solids are removed and that the pH level is neutralized to the appropriate level win accordance with EPA and Colorado Department of Health and Environment Pretreatment Standards.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide assistance conducting EHS&S –oriented facility audits
  • Monitors continuous flow of water from various production areas such as Electropolish and vibratory on two separate wastewater treatment systems
  • Ensures appropriate pH levels are maintained based on EPA regulations
  • Adds chemicals as required, cleans sludge from filter and cleans all equipment walls and grating as necessary
  • Repairs worn parts on equipment as required and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and bi-annual maintenance PM work orders
  • Completes preventative maintenance checklists for wastewater treatment equipment
  • Maintains data loggers and PC record keeping for two waste water systems and one oily waste system
  • Complete appropriate Discharge Monitoring Reports to the state on the required basis Prepare lab samples for shipment
  • Collect and input information for the preparation of weekly, monthly and yearly required reports for EHS&S
  • Operates oily water separator system and maintains the system as needed
  • Repairs worn parts on equipment as required and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and bi-annual maintenance PM work orders
  • Schedule EHS&S program training in accordance with local legal and EHS&S system requirements
  • Performs clerical duties such as filing, data entry, handling invoices, tracking the completion of forms and activities, and miscellaneous scheduling
  • Support the EHS&S Team Leader to ensure that all waste streams including hazardous wastes are properly managed (identified, segregated, packaged, labeled, stored, and shipped) and documented
  • Support the EHS&S Team Leader in the development and implementation of documents supporting the EHS&S management system
  • Field and respond to all EHS&S inquiries and complaints received and communicate such to the EHS&S Team Leader
  • Support the EHS&S Team Leader in providing EHS&S program training and communication to all associates

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator is preferred. 
  • 1 plus years of related experience working as an EHS&S Technician or related experience in an industrial, facilities engineering, medical or hospital facility is required.
  • Up to 2 years, hands-on, experience in operating wastewater treatment systems is preferred. 
  • The following Post Hire Training plan is required:
    • GMP/ISO KNOWLEDGE: ISO 14001 and ISO 9000 (ISO13485)
    • Certification in Hazardous Waste Handling requirements yearly
    • Certification in DOT regulatory requirements every 3 years
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work in Monument, CO and position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
  • First shift position (6:00 am to 2:30pm).  
  • Second shift position (2:00 am to 10:30pm)
  • This position may require up to 5% of domestic travel.
