Position Summary:
EKG Technicians operate the electrocardiograph machine to obtain recorded studies of the heart's electrical impulses. The technician stores and edits EKGs on the MUSE system. Operates the MUSE system at their approved level.
Reports To: Clinical Manager, Cardiopulmonary
Supervises: None

Position Requirements:
Licensure/ Certification/Registration:
  • Current BCLS
  • Basic arrhythmia course completed.
  • Medical terminology a plus.
  • Experience in the health care field, preferably one (1) year acute care experience.
Special Qualifications:
  • Ability to recognize incorrect lead placement.
  • Ability to recognize artifact from true rhythm.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize STAT calls.
