Engineering Co-ops will apply engineering and safety principles in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities consisting of the application of engineering knowledge to projects within the facility.

The six-month co-op assignment will be completed during the Fall 2018 semester (June-December).

Chemical Engineering
Responsibilities will include duties and projects designed to have the effect of reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, streamlining process, troubleshooting issues, identifying cost savings, and updating procedures.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S Chemical Engineering degree program and have completed the sophomore year at the time of application
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Prior Co-op or internship experience is a plus

Electrical Engineering
Duties will include preparing design, installation and start-up of automatic process control, material handling, and distributive control systems. The Co-op will also gain experience assisting with documentation of the process and equipment to meet compliance with ISO 9002 certification, Monsanto's interlock guidelines, and Process Safety Management regulations. Co-ops will also assist with existing/new projects in design, equipment selection, installation, checkout, troubleshooting, and start-up phases. Other responsibilities could include project development, electrical control drawing approval, programming controller specifications, software development and training.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S Electrical Engineering degree program and have completed the sophomore year at the time of application
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Prior Co-op or internship experience is a plus

Mechanical Engineering
Duties will include preparing project mechanical specifications and summaries for front end design packages, working with the mechanical designer to develop project drawings for equipment and piping layouts, reviewing equipment vendor drawings, and supporting construction. Other Co-op responsibilities will include supporting the development of construction drawings and specifications, support the engineer in development of mechanical equipment specifications, and support the development of equipment checkout plans. The Mechanical Co-op will also support project checkout and startups.

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S Mechanical Engineering degree program and have completed the sophomore year at the time of application
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

In addition to current enrollment and GPA requirements listed above, co-ops must:
  • Relocate to Muscatine, Iowa for the duration of the term (June-December of 2018)
  • Return to school upon completion of their term with Monsanto to continue their program of study
