The Electrical Staff Engineer will plan and execute development studies for development of new products or support of a current project. The position plans and conducts design/development engineering assignments generally involving projects of major magnitude and scope, estimates human resource needs and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications and may coordinate and direct Engineers, Designers and Technicians assigned to projects. Responsibilities also include developing proposals and cost estimates, evaluating progress and results and recommending major changes in procedures or objectives. The position will focus on design/development engineering assignments focused on electrical and electromechanical systems used in medical devices.
The position will independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected, receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects and plans, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
The Electrical Staff Engineer will perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires broad knowledge of precedents in the electrical specialty area and good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties and may technically supervise or coordinate the work of Engineers and Technicians and others who assist in specific assignments.
The Electrical Staff Engineer practices company safety, quality policies and procedures, actively requires conformance, is responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and responsible for performing design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new processes.
