Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform leading edge Email Security Research
  2. Act as subject matter expert on local and regional cyber threats which use Email as attack vector
  3. Build tools, systems, and automation to assist in activities to combat email security threats
  4. Engineer new ways of detecting and blocking malicious emails
  5. Work with other members of technical staff and management to identify and deploy effective solutions that improve overall email security
  6. Analyze logs and associated data for patterns of abuse in order to help develop methods for combatting them
  7. Develop and manage projects to deploy technical solutions and report on the overall progress of the project related activities
  8. Coordinate across organizational and different country boundaries to leverage the resources necessary to implement solutions and report on their effectiveness
  9. Support internal business units and partners to help them deploy secure email solutions and to ensure compliance with security requirements
  10. Support external technical specification efforts with a goal to improving the security of email and other Internet technologies
  11. Good understanding of security, encryption and controls needed to protect information
  12. Familiarity with email related protocols, and email systems such as Domino/Exchange/Office 365 services

Required skills:

  • At least 10 years direct or equivalent experience in areas related to email security, and malware, or malware-analysis. Needs experience with identifying, and devising solutions to phishing and email security threats
  • At least 10 years of experience related to administration and engineering of security email gateways such as Cisco Email Security Appliances (IronPorts), Exchange Online Protection, Barracuda, ProofPoint, Message labs, FireEye, etc
  • Knowledge software/security-content build/release, Knowledge in Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering
  • Knowledge in security and malware detection technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, including in-person, written, and verbal skills; experience working with a distributed, global workforce
  • Strong self-motivation, self-management, and effective personal time-management skills
  • Skilled at coordinating complex technical projects that cross organization boundaries; experience with email security and a variety of data analytics techniques are a plus
  • Effective at setting and hitting multiple interdependent deadlines within a large, dynamic set of geographically distributed teams
  • Ability to adjust when necessary to address changes in priorities driven by external factors such as emerging security threats
  • Willingness to take direction from senior technical staff or managers, and operate independently when necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise grade, scalable, secure & reliable software systems
  • Experience communicating with geographically diverse teams using a variety of tools (e.g. phone, email, Skype, Lync, video conferencing)
  • Experience reporting on the status of projects; experience briefing executive leadership
  • Experience writing about technical topics for non-technical audiences

Additional Qualifications - preferred:

  • Certifications: Professional Certification
    • MCSE/MCSA/MCITP (AD or Exchange) - ( requires at least one)
    • CISA, GCIH, GCED, CASP or CISSP - ( requires at least one)
  • Experience using project management and team communication / coordination tools (e.g. Microsoft Project)
