As MetLife’s Employee Engagement intern, you will have a unique opportunity to actively engage our employees around the world. You will be challenged, as a member of the small engagement team, to create a sense of community at our company; help employees understand our enterprise strategy and how to achieve our goals; help leaders become more engaged and better communicate with their teams; help employees get recognized and feel appreciated; and inspire employees to be an active participant in our company’s transformation.


You will play an active, important and essential role in the Employee Engagement and Internal Communications team. Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with large-scale employee engagement/corporate communications campaigns – develop, write, deliver, execute and track communications materials, all while incorporating team feedback.
  • Brainstorm new, creative ideas to engage employees with the team and assist in their execution.
  • Monitor trends – keep track of great ideas outside of MetLife and recommend how we could implement internally.
  • Find, develop and create content that engages employees for MetLife’s Intranet and other internal communication channels.
  • Suggest and develop a leader communication tool(s) – taking our collaboration channels into consideration and creating a “best practice” example(s).  


We are looking for an energetic, outgoing and positive team member who will be committed to communicating to employees about how MetLife is a place where you want to work. You will also:

  • Be able to simplify complex concepts and communicate them in a clear manner.
  • Be resourceful – you aren’t afraid to ask questions and you leverage the many resources available to you, including working with multiple teams at MetLife.
  • Be able to turn your ideas into action and think outside of the box.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.


  • High School Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Minimum of two years of college completed towards a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media/Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed corporate environment
  • High-level of professionalism and keen attention to detail when working with colleagues outside of immediate team.
  • Will be asked to provide writing samples
