IT Revenue Management is an innovative area in our IT organization that works closely with the business to increase our Revenue.  We build world-class public cloud hosted systems, which process billions of pieces of market data using the latest Hadoop-based technology, to optimize our rental prices and vehicle availability in near real-time.  We enable the ability to respond quickly to customer and competitor behavior, and visibility into the effect of pricing decisions worldwide.   We partner with the business to build strategic systems, which have a direct impact on our ability to remain competitive in a global marketplace.


As an Engineer 2 you will be responsible for using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to solve business problems.  We are looking for a talented individual that can serve as a subject matter expert in their area of focus and represent their department on complex assignments.  You will be responsible for evaluating elements of technology’s effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness.  You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations. Interpret end-user business requirements to develop and/or modify technical design specifications.

As an Engineer 2 you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex components of the Linux (CentOS) systems infrastructure in a public cloud environment at Amazon Web Services (AWS).  You will provide direction for the maintenance of the existing infrastructure and coordinate the design and architecture of new solutions in a virtualized public cloud environment.

  • Analyzes, Designs, Develops, Test, Implements, Maintains, and Supports Linux (CentOS) systems infrastructure at Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Provides subject matter expertise on Linux infrastructure systems, and influences solution architecture and cloud infrastructure design for a Hadoop environment
  • Monitors task automation and implements process improvements
  • Recommends enhancements that result in increased quality and service, and ensures optimal performance of the environment
  • Recommend solutions and resolves complex and moderately complex issues, escalating when needed; Role will require evening and weekend work as needed to resolve issues or when system downtime is required
  • Identify areas for improvement with a view to maintaining and enhancing the reliability, stability and integrity of the UNIX/Linux environment 



  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • 3+ years of system engineering/administration experience on a UNIX/Linux platform
  • 3+ years of experience working with the basics of UNIX/Linux operating system theory, associated 3rd party software products, and hardware components
  • 1+ year experience with cloud management/virtualization with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with Infrastructure Provisioning using CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar
  • Experience with Amazon storage techniques and strategies using S3 and Glacier
  • Experience with security compliance, remediation and reporting as well as security monitoring tools and patch automation strategies and techniques
  • Experience with automation/scripting, including shell and python
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, ability to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies
  • Strong sense of ownership for problem life-cycle and resolution
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting Hadoop technologies, including setup and administration, specifically HortonWorks Data Platform, is preferred
  • Experience with Python and Java languages a plus
  • Experience developing solutions using automation tools such as Ansible or CloudFormation
