Position Summary:
 
PASA is seeking an Engineer, Electrical/Systems.  This position is responsible for vehicle testing.  Responsible for providing the point of contact at the customer location where assigned and provides escalation focus for problems and issues from the customer to the Company. May instruct and provide technical guidance to engineers and other technical staff through the design and development or other processes.  Acts as the Tier I level support engineer for Panasonic.
 
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides on-site engineering support and technical leadership for the assigned customer and assigned products, collaborating in all program phases from initial concept to program end.
  • Performs in-vehicle testing of components and systems.
  • Performs bench/system testing of system components.
  • Performs installation of system components into vehicles for testing purposes.
  • Assembles system test benches.
  • Provides troubleshooting and countermeasures for component issues found during testing.
  • Re-flashes SW on system components.
  • Supports customer events such as:  Integration Camps, System Verifications, Cross Checks, Tunings, etc.
  • Works with Account Managers, Systems Engineers, Customer Engineers and Sales Managers to act as the customer's advocate when issues and problems need to be escalated.
  • Defines, organizes and chairs meetings between the company and the customer's engineers.
  • Attends and may chair the customer's on site meetings when customer issues arise.
  • Manages the customer's specific release processes throughout the entire development cycle of each specific product.
  • Works with the customer to write and release specifications.
  • In partnership with customer engineers and management, takes responsibility for the definition of customer and system by seeking clarification and approval from customer; maintains compliance with the customer's specifications; provides support for determination of local regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes efforts to acquire additional business from the customer.
  • Supports the Development Process Innovation Management (DPIM) process for new business as needed.
  • Fulfills co-located engineering responsibilities as designated in customer guidelines and ensures that the company complies with all customer requirements and expectations for co-location.
  • Communicates customer program timing requirements and completion of program milestones to management. Ensures that all program steps comply with established customer program processes.
  • Works with the customer to provide equipment and timing needed by Panasonic, e.g. provision of a car of a suitable standard for a suitable duration for audio tuning.
  • Supports dealer scrambles when necessary.
  • Ensures the proper flow of engineering and customer information within and between the customer and Panasonic.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation to meet the specifications of the customer and Panasonic.
  • Ensures clear, concise and timely communication.
  • Functions as a capable team player able to adapt to various project requirements.
  • Interprets and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical information.
  • Will initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Performs other projects and related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education Experience:
 
Four-year College Degree in at least one STEM major (Science; Technology; Engineering; Math) and a minimum of three (3) years of experience; a minimum of six (6) years of  electric design experience in electronics products, customer facing, electrical, mechanical, software or systems design experience in electronics products.
 
Required Experience:
  • Must have experience in electrical measurement tools (oscope, multimeter, signal generator, etc).
  • Ability to put together system benches.
  • Ability to do vehicle install of system components.
  • Ability to test/reflash system components.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues found during testing.
  • Ability to support customer events.
  • Must be able to demonstrate discipline to documentation and design approaches.
  • Must be able to determine component requirements appropriate to product.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows based databases appropriate to the position and assignment.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in the following:
  • Vehicle testing (EMC, noise, ESD, system, etc).
  • Vehicle communication BUS (MOST, UART, CAN, I2C, SPI, etc).
  • Software debugging tools (e.g. ICE).
  • Radio reception evaluations.
  • Automotive infotainment development.
  • System/electrical engineering in an automotive environment
