The OS Team at Isilon is responsible for developing and maintaining the derivative of the FreeBSD OS that we use to allow clients to store and access data on Isilon scale-out clusters. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to help solve complex issues that include stability, scalability, connectivity, device support, systems resource utilization, etc., in support of our core OS solution, OneFS.
As an SDE for this team, you’ll help define, evaluate and nurture integral production and test code that underpins our entire product. You’ll also get to work with the upstream FreeBSD community to make FreeBSD better not only for us but for everyone else. We work in both the kernel and user space.
The most successful candidate will have a solid background in FreeBSD or Linux development at either kernel or user level although experience at the kernel level would be highly beneficial. Experience in interacting with Open Source software projects is also highly advantageous.
+ Experience in FreeBSD and/or Linux Kernel Development and Open Source community involvement.
+ At least BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience
+ Self-starter, creative, highly motivated and responsible
+ Solid understanding of C and Python
