Engineering Technologist Sr. Engineer at Dell Description: This is a position for an Engineering Technologist with Dell's Client Software Group and it is focused on the Windows Operating System. This Engineer will be responsible for advanced engineering in the development of technologies for new client products that include the Windows Operating System. May serve as the lead strategist for a technology or collection of technologies that constitute a solution. Responsibilities include the assimilation and understanding of the industry and competitive environment for a given technology or product line, and the derivation of a technology/product strategy from this information. Duties include leading technology investigations, performing strategic analysis of the industry capabilities, and developing recommendations, which influence the technical product strategy and/or definition of products for a given product line including evaluation of potential acquisitions and vendor partner opportunities. Engages design teams, systems engineering, marketing teams, suppliers, and business unit leaders and executives to ensure the strategy or product architecture meets Dell’s requirement of product leadership for the given technology area or product line. Responsible for generating Intellectual Property. This role can be located in Seattle, Washington or Austin, Texas Qualifications -Must haves: -Experience developing software on various Microsoft Windows platforms, including 32-bit and 64-bit XP-through Windows 10 -Expert knowledge of the Windows Kernel, Device Drivers and Windows Internals, specifically with filter drivers and kernel debugging. -Knowledge of Windows internals in relation to process load, initialization and startup is critical -Knowledge of Windows threading model, synchronization mechanisms, memory management, APCs, SysWow redirection, and how mixed architecture process components are managed -Ability to use kernel-level debugging to identify driver-related issues and design/implement solutions -Proficiency in using Visual Studio IDE/debugger, WinDbg, Windows process monitoring and diagnostic tools for various Windows 32/64 bit platforms -Proficiency in using C, C , and C# -Expertise in Windows/Win32 C/C programming. -An affinity for finding elegant solutions to tough problems. -Excellent communication and collaboration skills. -Passion for being part of a world-class engineering team, making suggestions on how we can be better and ensuring that the best possible code is delivered. -Comfort with Agile approaches, and an automated test-driven mentality.
