Position: Environmental Cleaning Specialist 12 Hour Day Shift

Position Summary

The Environmental Cleaning Specialist (ECS) is an Hourly Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by ensuring controlled manufacturing and production pharmaceutical grade cleanrooms are disinfected and sanitized per federal and facility regulations. This position will include leadership responsibilities by exemplifying proficiency in aseptic technique, performing aseptic cleaning, and coordinating all cleaning activities with manufacturing.

Essential Job Duties and Skills

- Knowledge of Aseptic Technique

- Train and coach other employees

- Able to effectively communicate among cross functional groups

- Must be able to follow procedures and pay close attention to detail

- Perform aseptic audits on other personnel with immediate corrective action response

- Delegate, organize, and coordinate cleaning activities with manufacturing

- Review cleaning documentation and records

- Communicate with oncoming shift personnel information regarding any issues

encountered during previous shift or if any new supplies/materials are needed

- Must be able to work as a team and have good communication skills

- Perform industrial pharmaceutical grade cleanings in a cleanroom production and manufacturing


- Perform weekly room inspections and create work orders for maintenance issues

- Measure, mix, and properly label cleaning solutions and disinfectants and have readily available for use

- Cleanings will consist of mopping and wiping down manufacturing and production areas with approved

sanitization solutions and supplies. Areas to clean will include; but not limited to: ceilings, windows,

doors, filling line equipment, conveyors, and floors.

- Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality or discrepancy issues occur

- Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and

Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

- Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles including maintaining and securing provided


Work Environment

- Can include working in a Class I, Class II, Class III or Class IV Controlled Environment which may include

the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, hairnet, beard cover, isolation

mask, gown, hood, boots or shoe covers and gloves. Additional PPE is required when cleaning

- There is constant or intermittent noise and vibration

- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

- This position involves working around moving equipment, machinery and conveyors

- Requires working with chemical cleaners and disinfectants on a daily basis

Required Qualifications

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

- Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.

- Must be able to perform basic mathematics

- Must have the Level 5/6 Certification

- Possess or be able to obtain PIT Operator Certification

- Have basic computer skills

Preferred Experience

- One year of manufacturing experience preferred

- CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver level

Physical Requirements

- Requires continuous firm grasping and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

- Must be able to pass the Powered Industrial Truck (P.I.T.) physical

- Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.

- Must be able to stoop, kneel, squat, climb, reach at and above shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck and twist and bend at the waist.
