PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The CSB EHS Technical Leader will provide critical leadership, technical expertise and support for EHS process improvements, regulatory compliance, EHS capital projects and deployment of various EHS initiatives and training. This role will focus on deployment of regional and site level strategies and EHS risk reduction projects that will be in compliance with OC and regulatory standards, prevent life altering injuries, protect the environment, support our March to Zero injury journey as well as our sustainability objectives that are consistent with the OC Safety and Sustainability Stands. The successful candidate provides leadership and applies technical abilities to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS Capital Deployment
  • Works closely and consults with the CSB Capital Delivery team and equipment suppliers to assure that all planned projects incorporate appropriate EHS design standards that are in compliance with the appropriate regulatory and OC standards and are consistent with our March to Zero aspirations
  • Provides oversight and project approvals for the annual CSB EHS Capital plan
  • Actively participates on the TPM EHS Early Management team to create and update EHS related design standards
  • Leads cross region capital projects to reduce EHS risks on targeted equipment and processes
Develop skills and grow capabilities across CSB
  • Provides EHS technical support and coaching to sites
  • Consults with site EHS leaders to identify solutions to challenging EHS technical issues
  • Provides technical training to expand site level capabilities
Compliance with governmental regulations and corporate programs
  • Works with sites to effectively address enforcement actions from local, state, or federal agencies
  • Provides expert technical support in identifying, preventing and resolving critical regulatory issues
  • Ensures adherence to corporate policies and programs through development of standard processes and training
Operational Sustainability
  • Leads or supports sustainability initiatives targeting reduction of the company's footprint in energy consumption, waste, water, air and greenhouse gas emissions
JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in EHS or related technical field, such as industrial hygiene, engineering, or science
  • 10+ years of experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Cross discipline EHS experience is preferred
  • Ability to travel 50% globally
EXPERIENCE:
  • Professional certification preferred (CSP, CIH, PE, etc.)
  • Management systems experience is a plus
  • Proven experience and success in managing complex projects
  • Environmental and safety leadership experience preferred
  • Experience effectively engaging employees (union and non-union) and leadership
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety compliance law and industrial hygiene
  • Ability to identify hazards, critical process, and systems needs and implement appropriate action plans
  • Ability to establish agreement and consensus with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to initiate and lead cross-functional teams
