We are seeking a “Portfolio Capabilities Adoption Lead” who is a dynamic and an energetic individual to lead the planning and adoption of our investment portfolio management capabilities across our IT enterprise.  The successful candidate will utilize their skills in thinking strategically and planning tactically to ensure the appropriate plans are laid out to deploy and adopt process improvements to our investment portfolio management capabilities.  This individual will steward our Portfolio Community of Practice, as well as our online community presence, to orchestrate outreach activities and influence effective communication and learning.


This person will enable the uptake of our improved portfolio capabilities as part of a larger effort to assist the EPMO Senior Director in establishing and institutionalizing the company's IT investment portfolio cycle to ensure that J&J's IT investments each year yields the desired business value and the realization of its core business strategies.  The role is of strategic importance in driving a culture of transparency and accountability, as well as enabling information-based decision making in the management of IT investments.

  • Orchestrate the execution of the Portfolio Capabilities Roadmap and adoption/uptake of investment processes and behaviors
  • Provide necessary strategic and tactical planning oversight to ensure that as new investment portfolio management capabilities are introduced, and that the appropriate changes to processes, systems and data, and governance are made
  • Ensure the pace of introducing portfolio capabilities improvements are reasonable and achievable
  • Provide technology release planning oversight to ensure that the work to mechanize capabilities improvements in the supporting portfolio systems and reporting are done in a coordinated and efficient manner 
  • Accountable for appropriate and effective communications across our portfolio community to promote awareness and understanding of investment portfolio capabilities:
  • Establish an appropriate change network and channels to drive changes broadly throughout the enterprise where subject matter expertise is cultivated to sustain the changes
  • Establish and maintain mechanism for the continuous feedback and improvement of our portfolio capabilities
  • Create and execute on an adoption/change plan with appropriate multi-channel (web, email, training, in-person focus groups, etc.) marketing and communications
  • Develop ongoing outreach activities across the portfolio community to promote the awareness and understanding of our investment portfolio capabilities
  • Establish and drive the participation of our online Community of Practice across the investment portfolio community so that our online site becomes our main channel to provide guidance, information, and answer questions on portfolio management topics.
  • Ensure that content stays current on a weekly basis, and that there is broad input across portfolio leaders, Finance, and investment owner leaders.
  • Establish and maintain discussion boards/threads on key topics, and that questions are being answered in a timely manner
  • Create the appropriate connections with related communities and groups within the company

  • Must have Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Management, or related field) but preferably an MBA or graduate degree in business related field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, inclusive of at least 5 year of planning and/or project management experience
  • Must have experience in establishing and managing plans to implement transformational initiatives
  • Must have experience in developing and executing on change and adoption plans
  • Must have strong relationship management skills to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must have proven leadership experience - Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for gaining the cooperation and support of others
  • Must have well-developed facilitation and presentational skills
  • Must have extensive experience in planning: tactical and strategic--ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1 - 2 years) and strategic (3 - 5 years) planning
